Any treats you anons like that everyone seems to hate? For me it's candy corn.
>>41126213No one here seems to like those caramel apple suckers that use to be everywhere. But i love em.
>>41126046Open the pod bay doors, /hal/
>>41126213parma violets. I love these little perfume tasting motherfuckers like you wouldn't believe
>>41126213I like smarties and those necco wafers, but I have distinct memories of child anon getting roundly mocked for my candy choices. Helped that I had allergies to milk that kept me away from the average chocolate treat, so I'd barter my candy to friends at favorable rates
What movies do you watch around this time every year? I always come back to Donnie Darko. One of the most "/x/" movies ever made.
>>41126213candy corn, smarties, and pic related
>>41126223Those suckers are awesome. Always have to grab a bag or two every season.
>>41129295I have a hard drive specifically for my Halloween watches. I don't ever get through all of them, it's just a rotation based on which ones I watched the previous year/which ones I feel like watching.>Halloweentown movies (except the last one)>Under Wraps>The Halloween Tree>Sleepy Hollow>Wishbone Legend of Sleepy Hollow episode>The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad>Fright Night>Halloween I-III>Trick 'r Treat>Tales of Halloween>The Scream Team>Hellraiser I and II>Vampire Hunter D>The Haunted Mansion>Ernest Scared Stupid>The Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It>Goosebumps S2 E10: Attack of the Jack-O'-Lanterns>When Good Ghouls Go Bad>Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark>All Hallows' Eve>Beetlejuice>all of the Bone Chillers seriesThere are probably some I'm forgetting, that hard drive's cable went bad and I need to get a new one.
>>41126223>>41129338My craving for those little fuckers is my first sign that it's the time of the season.
>>41129368>>The Halloween TreeThat was a childhood favorite for me. You should add the haunted mask to that list, it's also a Halloween episode.
hell yeah
Was anyone in here enough of a little edgelord to grow up reading this? I like to revisit it around this time every few years. It's very "of it's time" but some of the quotes from it have really stuck with me over the years.
>>41129382>That was a childhood favorite for meSame. The music is some of the best in an animated film imo.>haunted maskThat's one of the ones I forgot to list. Also The Scariest Story Ever: A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular, and of course It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
Here's a great resource for /hal/ images. publicdomainreviewDOTorgThey have a ton of vintage halloween postcards and a bunch of other esoteric stuff.
>>41129438I haven't seen this yet, but I did grow up with this one, as well as a lot of other vintage Disney stuff, thanks to them re-airing a lot of it in the 2000's. youtube.com/embed/aSkXw1bk_NE
>>41129446Vintage Halloween stuff is my shit.>>41129474That's another good one. The modern Disney stuff isn't usually my thing but that Halloween special ticks all the boxes and it's also genuinely creepy in the back half. As a kid it would have scared the shit out of me.
>>41127292smarties were great and Necco was fine at worst. Never understood the internet hate for them.
>>41129295I've recently been trying to start Kiki's Delivery Service into a start of fall tradition. I actually love rewatching old Halloween specials of RedLetterMedia, AVGN, Ross' Game Dungeon etc.every year
>>41129527I always watch the old AVGN Halloween episodes around this time of year. The first Monster Madness too, the "History of Horror" one. That introduced me to some movies I might not have checked out otherwise.
>>41129369Those illustrations were so impactful on my childhood. I wanted to draw my own
>>41129295It's very mundane, but I always watch the Treehouse of Horror episodes. I think it's because it reminds me of being a kid and there's something incredibly comfy about nighttime Simpsons.
Don't forget this masterpiece. I wore out my "Nightmare" VHS watching this and the original Frankenweenie so many times. They were the most unsettling things I had seen as a little kid. They awakened a morbid fascination in me.>>41129600This guy get's it.
Uh oh !
>>41129407lol yeah. need to reread some of it again. what i recall is based on nearly 20 year old memory. that's definitely softened some of the cringier aspects i suspect.
>>41129295I hit up the classics, much like the list anon posted (>>41129368) but I also make sure to catch all the texas chainsaw movies, arsenic and old lace, igor, monster house, ghostwatch and anything spooky with clint howard in it
>>41129702Oh yeah. It's interesting just how well it critiques the "alt" culture while at the same time representing some of it's worst aspects. As a teen I loved it more for it's edgy elements but as an adult the more thoughtful bits still resonate with me.
>>41129345I usually dislike AI but I really like this one.The theme is just too good
>>41129805What? The theme of a weirdly mime-ish dracula handing a phone to a grandma in a stupid outfit before it phases out of reality for no reason? BOOO. I hate seeing this slop fill these threads every year now. Threads that are otherwise filled with soulful artwork that brings you to a certain time and place when they were made, or even craftwork and home decor that people are doing in real life. It's even got an annoying fucking watermark just to stamp home how lazy and uncreative that anon is for using it. You can find something better to post in 2 seconds with a little effort.
>>41130145Just got through replaying this about a month ago. Such a fucking good game.
>>41130142
>>41130142agreed, I wish aifags would keep to their containment zones. our resident slopper doesn't even contribute to the conversations to justify his posts, but we get enough effortposting in these threads to make up for it regardless

>>41130584>edinburgh castle in autumnabsolutely peak. went last halloween and it was one of the most beautiful walks i've ever been on, absolutely fantastic atmospheres at st cuthbert's cemetery as the sun set.. a horrible fog descended on the drive home, 10/10 would spook again
>>41130584>>41130645Gorgeous pics anons. Haven't been to Edinburgh in autumn in many years, alas, but it's a stunning city any time of year
>>41130584>>41130645Edinburgh is the most /hal/ city in the world, the intertwining stone viaducts and narrow alleyways that plunge out of sight from the hilltop are like something out of a Gothic movie
>>41130678Do scots celebrate Halloween? I was delighted to find out from a friend in central UK that his my neighborhood was starting to take it up. Always thought it was exclusively an American tradition.
>>41131207I don't know about Halloween, but they do have the Beltane fire festival at the end of April. It's pretty nuts, some hardcore pagan ritual stuff.
>>41131207>>41132328
>>41132794The episode of the show that came from this book scared the living shit out of me as a kid. I still remember getting it from the video store. I got those little krabby patty gummies and ate them while being irrevocably traumatized.
>>41129295A Haunting in Venice is a new favorite mine
