I've been watching a lot of videos on the subject so I wanna askAny anons here live in or around the appalachian mountains region? Any interesting folklore? Experiences? Theories
>>41142138Mimics, which aren't Skinwalkers but its easy for white folks to mistake the twoMimics are a type of demon out to kill vulnerable prey, they were never human but can appear however they want when they want to be seen, otherwise they stay invisible to the eyes.
The land was tainted by dark forces long before even the Native tribes inhabited the area, they'd even tell the white settlers/explorers not to venture into the forests because its evil, infested with it really What happened to infect the land of the appalachians, smokies, even the rockies with such dark, evil energy is unknown
>>41142138too many hillbillys and rednecks with zero education so superstitions abound
>>41142138My uncle lived in North Carolina for a while back in the 90s, around 1996 or so he's convinced that he met the Devil
>>41142589Sometimes paranoia is common sense
>>41142138I've dabbled in cryptozoology a bit and not quite appalachian, Tennesse so the Smokies but you'll see a lot of rural communities who report sightings of Bigfoot, Dogman, and even Reptilians as if something about the area attracts them
>>41142138My family has been in Appalachia since before the formal founding of the US. There's weird shit in the woods for sure, but a lot of the creepypasta type stuff is definitely overblown. I've seen at least three different kinds of THINGS out in the woods, but only one of them seemed malicious in any way. The other two didn't really give a damn that I was there. If you're into ghost type shit, there's some of that around here too (Though if you ask me, ghosts are totally a physical phenomenon when you understand how plasma can behave. This doesn't discount their potential intelligence, however.).
>>41142682Paranoia was how Kurt Russell survived The Thing so what can go wrong?
>>41142611>convinced that he met the DevilWhy would Satan appear to some random Joe Schmoe?
>>41142138Ohio's Area51 Peach Mountain, Ohio river valley. The Ohio river going east runs right into Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Home of the Mothman encounters. Which sits on a lay line that runs all the way across the country. This lay line has had so many sightings and abductions and paranormal high strangeness. You can see on the map how every event happened on this same lay line.
>>41143254How else do you think The Adversary works his way? He doesn't do it with grandiosity. He spins his web from the tiniest thread
>>41142138I sat down to talk to a guy from there. I thought I grew up poor, but damn, that guy grew up dirt poor. I at least had shoes and ate regularly. No spook stories, but he claimed he was trailed home by a wolf and that the experience terrified him. The animals were supposedly wiped out way back in the day so maybe it was a rare red wolf.
>>41142138Not me but my Brother in law lived in a part of Pennsylvania close to the mountains >Be BIL, we'll call him Ricky because that's his name >21 at the time>Work as a counselor at some camp in the area>Its the middle of the night when Ricky needs to go take a leak>Camp has a facility for bathrooms that you have to walk from cabins down this dirt path >Ricky takes a flashlight with him because there's no other source of light to help him walk through the dark >Takes his time but once he's down there he hears this noise >Footsteps>Using his flashlight he can see this tall, dark shape moving parallel to him in the woods, shaped exactly like a tall, very muscular person >When he gets back to his cabin he looks out with his flashlight, seeing a pair of green eyeshine staring back at him for a moment >Next day he remembers which tree he saw close to the Eyeshine>Estimates this figure would have to be about nine feet tall
>>41143268Is there a map of the major activity hubs?
Isn't there like a metric fuckton of alien abduction stories from the Appalachian Trail?
The Brown Mountain Lights are real. Orbs coming out of the mountain one after another like it's a fairy airport. Not metal ufos, not purely geological phenomena such as ball lightning. A couple came near us and were seemingly sentient and interested in us being there. Such experiences have an effect like an altered state as it scrambles your concept of what's "real".
>>41143970Clusters yes, not just of abductions but sightings
Bump
>>41142138Yeah born and raised unfortunately, Ive done my fair share of walking around in the woods at night. My favorite cryptid ive saw while living here are probably the Methheads but thats pretty much anyone you come across. Appalachia is only spooky bc of how shitty it is, im kind of a schizo and ive been a little obsessed with aliens my whole life. If there was anything paranormal happening I probably wouldve picked up on it by now but no its just poverty
