a lot of talk of 4d or higher is by relating it somehow to 3d or lower. so just as a literal answer to your question, there are different perspectives. If you ask about 2D, well from a 3d perspective as in looking at it from the side, it would look like a piece of paper of course. But, if you are in the 2d, what do you see? You don't see the full picture. One dimension must be depth and the other is lateral. So you must be seeing just a vertical or horizontal line.So in the fourth dimension, that allows you to see the third dimension better, and if something entered the 3d world it would pop in and out basipally, and that cube you see sometimes is just a representation. If you get really high you can start to see in the fourth dimension. Our universe is supposedly "round" in the fourth dimension. Like if a 2d shape were wrapped around and connected back to itself, and how the earth is a ball, if you go far enough in the universe you return to your beginning
