I have a question that has been on my mind for a while. La Santa Muerte could be seen as a catholic folk saint but could you combine her with protestant christianity? I have seen a statue where Madrina is holding Jesus in her arms and that is where this question comes from.

Le muerte is idolatry the Catholic Church doesn't recognize it as a saint. It's totally pagan.

But still christians pray to her as a catholic saint. Could a protestant do the same?

This.
Pagan syncretic nonsense.

>Pagan syncretic nonsense.
Yet the Catholic Church itself venerates their own "Black Madonna" which is a dark feminine aspect.

Yeah they shouldn't. Mexicans do all sorts of shit they shouldn't. The global south are not really generally Christian. They go to church and read the Bible but they still practice things like ancestor worship and give reverence to their old pagan gods, occasionally syncretised as "saints" like in the case of Santa Muerte. You shouldn't pray to any local deity.

You dumbass that's just a result of the pigment of the paintings darkening with age.
>>

Huh? Are you implying that Mexico is in the global south? Or were you implying that la muerte gets reverence in the global south?

Global south is humid brown world

Alright that was a bit vague my apologies. Yes Mexico is in the global south. The global south is the humid brown people part of the world.

No doubt the Charismatics down there do it, I've heard of Pentecostal preachers in Africa doing black magic in private.

The cult around Cathfolk Saints follows the Catholic way of venerating Saints, so it would be weird for a Prot to venerate them, but I guess you could

Europeans at the time still practiced ancestor worship and reverence to old pagan gods through Christianity. It was the common way to get them to convert. Not a big deal
