I will tell you that most vampires have been cured thanks to black budget pharmaceutical projects. Those that are too far gone are usually eradicated by modern, usually government-funded vampire hunters who are far better equipped and knowledgeable than those in the past. So vampires are just another disease being eradicated like small pox. It would be rare to see one nowadays.
