I suspect "liberty" is a trick concept. What is the etymology and cultural usages of liberty, or liber, libre, etc. Is it an ironic concept or entity? Is it the same as freedom? Do you know better concepts?
>>41178093liberty is the temporary freedom the captain of a ship grants his seamen when they come ashore, revocable at his discretion.

>>41178093Quick Google search: "Liberty" is "Freedom" but within the bounds of civilized law.So, if what you're really referring to is freedom, that is, the sovereign will of an entity to act within his/her own accord, this deduces down into natural rights. Liberty is the freedom to act within the bounds man created.
In Spanish liberty (freedom) is libertad. However we also have a closely related word that means debauchery (libertinaje).I wonder if there is something similar in other languages where a confusion arises due to a shared etymology.
libertine1 (disparaging): a freethinker especially in religious matters2: a person who is unrestrained by convention or moralityspecifically: one leading a dissolute lifeShares the liber root with liberty

>>41178093Liberty or freedom is the natural state of being before the mind starts to create abstract definitions and interpret electrochemical stimulus from the body. Then people either reduce those stimuli to enjoy their natural freedom, or they start thinking that they'll never be free enough.Through the bars of their own mental prison, they incarcerate themselves to notions such as "community" and "written law" which don't exist and barely reflect nature.
>>41183069Nice digit but free will is acktually a deception. It is not the will of God, it is your own will away from God. All this silly shit people who claim to follow him and people who actually follow him do. Jesus has a lot to answer for.

>>41178107Agree with this anon>>41178093Liberty and Freedom are secularized values that developed during the enlightenment. Michelle Heisman thought that they were Christian values stripped of religiosity, but I think it’s actually the opposite. I think they were values that affirm free will and counter Christianity as freedom and free will allow for one to determine their own fate even in the face of “God”.This is why many of the founding fathers were non-Christian or Dieists, as well as members of secret societies. “Freedom” allows for free will and luciferianism while Christianity only allows for determinism and “God’s plan”. That’s why “Lady Liberty” looks like Mithras and George Washington was a 33rd degree Freemason. Also why Thomas Jefferson had slaves. Also why “God” isn’t mentioned in the US Constitution.
