This thread will discuss theories of time travel, whether it be spiritual, astral or physical. You can also discuss the scientific possibilities of each.

I'd like to bring up a theory of my own I have concocted/surmised:

Time is omnidirectional:
This means we see our past and future as infinite versions of stars and planets from our future and past and even alternative current realities in every direction. Our reality is the only "real" one, and everything we perceive in space is a "ghosted" image. This can be backed up when we acknowledge how light travels. Even if something is perceived from a distance in space, the time displacement is too vast to match up with perception.

If we could travel the speed of light and somehow land on another planet, we would land in a different time period as well, that planet would most likely be from a mirror model of our solar system, in which it is millions of years in the future or past. We could never travel back to this time, this meaning that once the journey is complete, this version of our solar system will become the new reality. The only time period that is currently our reality is in a small bubble within our perceived solar system. When we are split from our reality by breaking our bubble of time and space, we no longer exist in the old reality. It is impossible physically to ever return. If we were to make the journey back somehow, our reality would still be different. It would be millions of years displaced from our original reality.

The reason time travel is impossible/improbable, especially for all on earth is because to do this would require shifting our entire reality bubble at once, including stars, planets, perceived solar system etc, and hoping that somehow we would pop into an older version of our current reality, which could never happen. Time is not linear, even if we managed to do all of that, the past we would go to wouldn't be a rewind button. It would be a new past or a new future.

I will speak about theoretical/mathematical basis of time travel (physical time travel). There may be closed timelike curves in spacetime (4-dimensional Minkowski space). However, it means that objects with such wordlines (aka timelike curves) will not have origins at the beginning of time. For example, it may be that particles of such an object came to existence through colliding other particles in the future. Anyway, they are closed in the sense that it return to its starting point. Applying to humans - they return to being born. Is that possible? I don't know.

If we just look at wordlines that have origins at the beginning of time then they follow some rules of transformation that I don't really know. Maybe they can curve in spacetime, and that means it is possible for time travel.

As for OP's theory of omnidirectional time: skipping the parts about some shady business, travelling the speed of light still means that you need time to travel long distances. So yeah, you would land in a different time period relative to Earth's time. However, here we touch the subject of relativity theory (special and general), and it has a lot of things with this kind of topics. This includes time dilation. So in essence OP stats that you are under constant time dilations (no cryptic things such as "reality bubbles").
