(i already made a thread about this yesterday but it got no interested while /cultcirclejerk/ got 300 replies, many such cases!)

so in the early 2000's there was a little known fad in the internet of "ghostcams" literally webcams in haunted locations, and the whole thing is a goldmine of lost media that is mostly untapped , you can still find quite some stuff about it in the internet archive of the website ghost study from what i can tell there were dozens of websites like these back then, and i remenber quite a few still being extant as late as 2016 or so, nowdays all that remain is the willard library one and some guy with an old house but there used to be many more some of these date back to the late 90's (i think willard might have been the first but i don't known). but the one i am most interested about is asylumcam.com, to keep a long history short this was an forum with 30+ cameras started up sometime in 2003 by a family in missouri that turned into a general paranormal camera sharing website, because you needed an account to even watch the cameras pretty much nothing was saved by the internet archive but you can still find some captures in the ghoststudy website, but i genuinely wonder how much is lost cause the captures we have are absolutely insane , specially when you think these were watched live by an audience over the internet.
here are some links (i higly reconmend trawling trough the old ghoststudy website for more, there is so much): https://pastebin.com/V8sD7gw1

yes, pic related is another capture from asylumcam, i known next to nothing about it, just ramdomly stumbled upon it while looking at old websites. i REALLY want more stuff to be found about this

Definitely taking a look at this. I really hope some more stuff from that asylum cam website can be found.
>>
Bump. This is a cool thread, anon. Wish there were more like this.

I fucking loved the Willard Library website back in the day, and visiting the actual place is on my bucket list. They really played up the ghost angle with that site, even having a virtual ouija board that would often give vague but freaky responses to your questions.
Also, the library ghost cams on the original website were fake. I never saw it for myself but I read they would randomly display frames with apparitions that were obviously added in. There was also a 360 degree virtual tour of the library where you could see a badly photoshopped ghost if you looked in a mirror at the top of the entryway stairs.

Ireland's Eye was another good site way back when. They had a fuckin leprechaun cam.

if you fuck around in the internet archive you will see that the website had like 30-40 cameras at one point wich is absolutely nuts, apparently it turned into a whole community of people giving their own cameras on haunted places to the owners of the site, most of the stuff i found was in the Gstudy website
>>41193479
thanks , i was inspired by a few good recent threads wich gave me so hope you could have some interesting discussion here again
>>41193594
from what i can tell there were real cameras too, though the captures in them were pretty meh and vague, though there were some interesting ones like pic related

Holy hell, I just noticed the first link on that site is the Lexington museum! I've been there twice and have never heard about the ghost rumors. There's so much cool stuff in there (and up on the deck) that I never suspected a thing. The only part of it that made me uneasy were the restrooms, which can only be reached by climbing down a ladder to the ship's lower level.

from what i can piece togheter, it seems like the asylumcam main house had this thing where weird images would appear in the screen of the TV when it was off, one of the links in my OP is an example and pic related is another
>>
>>41194592
interesting , desu most of the captures i have seen from that one are clearly just people exploring the place, nothing that looks genuinely weird, but it does appear to be have been one of the oldest cameras in the site, there is a screenshot of it from 2000

really sad who this barely gets replies while some literal discord server of a cult gets more than a hundred

here is the other one for those who haven't seen it yet, it looks so bizarre, i can't even figure out what the image could possibly be.

To me it looks like a church obscured by a large tree branch on a very bright day. Which cam is this from?

Asylumcam, circa 2004 ish

Not sure how relevant this is but Chip-Chan also comes to mind. (40-something Korean woman with severe schizophrenia, keeps webcams on at all times in her apartment.) I don't have the links on hand but iirc they're not hard to find on Google.

He looks like he's just realized he's on camera.
>>
>>41199747
what i find most fascinating about asylumcam is that there is basically no information about it remaining in the internet, i am not sure if even true oldfags knew about it, while chip-chan is still vaguely sort of known

>>
>>41192885

I remember in probably 2003-2004 having a friend over from middle school and watching one of these videos. It was a ghost cam of I believe a hallway and about 30 seconds in a women in a black dress appears and I believe screams as well. We both had a very visceral reaction of audibly saying "ew" in between whatever we were saying to each other. We were both genuinenly scared and had to watch the video again to make sure it was just a prank, which of course it was.
>>
>>41207176
Yeah, there were some fake ones too, wich i think were inspired by the real ones.
