Most horror movies are honestly not very scary. The only ones I can think of that actually scared me are Hereditary and Kairo.
>>
I don’t watch horror movies to be scared I watch them to be entertained. So they must be somewhat realistic and interesting.

The exorcism of Emily Rose

I don't know what it was about the movie but I was haunted for 6 months after watching that.

Conjuring movies have a lot of jump scares and the bonus of teaching you about niche malevolent entities people actually believe in

Don't mind me just lurking for terrifying things to slake my desensitized thirst to feel fear.

Scariest thing I saw was Salo.

Skinamarink was unironically the first horror film to make me have a hard time falling asleep in a long time. I need glasses so laying in bed without them I felt like I was in the movie. Also the fact most of the movie takes place in silence made it even harder to not feel like I was still in the movie
The Witch is a slow burn but it really hits at the end

Skinamarink is probably the most divisive horror movie I can think of. The majority of the movie kind of pissed me off because it felt like this experimental art house bullshit that was just huffing it’s own farts but I have to admit pic related at the very end of the movie scared the shit out of me.

Fresh on VOD and worth a watch is "Bring Her Back". It had lots of uncomfortable scenes.

The first half did make me kind of want to turn it off but once the jump scares started coming in I realized na, this is the real deal. It does a good job at being thoroughly disturbing, not just "peekaboo!" or "wow look at this woman get brutally murdered doesn't that suck?"
>>
>>41201073
Skinamarink really fucked with me because I was so bored but some of the later moments gave so much tension it hurt
>>
>>41201099
What's nuts is there's only one sorta jump scare in the whole movie
