I mean it's so common now I dont even bother watching YouTube videos anymore. Nothing is real now. Everyone and everything is so FAKE. Even legit youtubers are now posting obvious fakes just for likes. And now the mother fuckers sneak in an ad in the middle of a video with "this video is sponsored by bla bla bla bla, buy bla bla bla now risk free bla bla". Youtube is not what it used to be.

>>41217800Yep welcome to "the attention economy."A competition to bend the minds of the world with brainrot for the purpose of power and profit. It's driving the entire world as crazy as it can possibly make it.This is the real news and nobody is talking about it.
I have heavily reduced youtube use in the past year or two. I have used it both ways: with account to favourite videos and follow hundreds of channels, and more recently without account. Over time, old favourites were removed/deleted which is when I really started to question the platform. I always used extensions to remove comments and related videos though. I am always blown away by how lame people are, saying "I read this comment..." instead of just talking to their friends about the video.I have realised that YouTube has literally just become Hollywood 2.0, where folks are required to have mini studios in their homes just to make a dumb video, and where most videomakers are shameless shills. Advertising never went away: It just got worse after google bought youtube and YT became TV. Youtube is not for YOU anymore, it's literally just broadcast television pulp slop again except somehow worse because every creator is starting from zero and just copying others; little actual long-term cooperative network planning. Finding originality and long-term value is difficult, but not impossible. Now, I have a very limited number of youtube channels which I'll check in on once a week or once a month, and I just use Jdownloader to save them. If something isn't worth saving and rewatching... I probably don't watch or care about it. I basically don't follow any channels who would say things like "like and subscribe, and give me money!" If something is actually valuable, countless creators have proven that quality content doesn't require shilling - it speaks for itself and spreads organically.Oh yeah and censorship is retarded. I definitely use video platforms other than youtube, more than youtube now. If somebody mirrors their videos elsewhere, I go elsewhere. Recommendations and random finds are still the only way to find good channels though. Also, blogs, podcasts, and other such feeds still exist, and are generally more fulfilling than a modern videotube video.
>>41220339The attention economy was written about decades ago. I recall Satoru Iwata talking about it in shareholder meetings. But yeah it's cool people are becoming aware of it these days.>>41218273The third world of the internet is the smartphone walled garden garbage dumps. Such homade videos still exist as archives, or even active ones which pump out videos regularly, but the Cult of the New obscures that fact. Just don't pay attn to New Popular Stuff Only and dig a little deeper than First Page Curated Censored Results.

Well you can just use an adblocker and other easily accessible means to remove the content you don't want to see, dipshit

>>41220496Most early internet video was random recommendations and not specific regular creator uploads. People mostly did this stuff because they had a real drive to share and be creative; there was no motivation of greed yet. Videos were also integrated with other pieces of media, and not yet wholly divorced from websites. A video was just icing on the cake of a much wider array of internet available. It was only one of many ways to share things online. It was as supplementary and ephemeral as an embedded image or a .wav file.Individual randoms: David Icke lectures, documentaries. Scattered self-hosted video files - alpha/beta game footage comes to mind on sites like Unseen64 and TCRF. E3 videos and lectures, even outside of summer. YTMND of course. Not speedruns for games, never liked those; but more like strategies and tips in video form. Like one guy did a reverse Super Metroid playthrough, which really inspired me and taught me a lot of techniques I still use when I replay.Specific channels:Ted talks were actually cool, I got a lot of inspiration from them. TedX was less reliable so I tended to ignore those, and is where most of the negative backlash dstemmed from.AVGN, Happy Console Gamer. Pat the NES Punk was the only passable copycat. Classic Game Room was pretty legendary; prolific. If you wanted to specific watch a game review, he probably had it.tokyocooney - early JP vlogger, one of my favourite channels.noobtoob - early pod/video-cast about videogames at the time, around the Wii/DS era. Also enjoyed that Giant Bomb era. Also Team Covenant - all of these were small enough that they actually interacted with the viewers. This was at the beginning of Ustream and Justin.TV, before and early Twitch.TV.UbseyMovies might be the most indie rec I give today. Cool independent films, but they were really flakey. To a lesser degree: Ridgway Films.(continued)
>>41220895laoshu505000 was really cool, before the slew of copycat fake polyglots, because he was actually intelligent and talked shop, studying his arse off.LEGO channels - I actually got a kick out of watching a few. There was one nerd girl who loved Harry Potter which I didn't care about, but she also reviewed other sets and seemed enthusiastic.Sam Hyde / Million Dollar Extreme was good until The Great Reset. On Destructoid, there was "Sup, Holmes?" which was amazing for the time. He interviewed video game creators, and was a really charismastic, sweet, intelligent guy. I really loved his work. It might've been audio only, and maybe not even on youtube.Pre-youtube: there was one early podcast I can't remember the name of. I listened to it around 2013 or so, and it may have already been dead by then. But the guy had his own whole network, it was really cool and ahead of it's time. I think I heard about Snowcrash from it. Maybe he was into tech. He was very aware and down to earth, sometimes talking about how modern society is boned - through obvious real conspiracy-type subjects. This is just random stuff that I happened to like. I didn't like YGO abridged or the Nostalgia Critic. Nor Smosh or Mega64 or basically any of the popular crap, it all sucked and was just the mediocrity of most flash animations through another lens. Jumpcuts were hard to watch.

>>41220444For me the worst bit, checked sir, is that my pages get flooded with these ugly screamy thumbnails and titles such as "I DID THIS AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE ME".Justified quite the genocide the other day.
>>41217800I'm 100% sure that all AI clickbait is generated by google. If you post something about greyniggers, you will get a shadowban. If you post about Epstein Files, you will get a shadowban. If you post a video with a IA voice about some lie, your video will get 100 views and then, your video will be get a copypaste for some "pajeet" channel and that video will get 400k views. So, yes, Google is using Ai to spam lies/propagandas while they are censoring you.
