How do materialists and consciousness comes from the brain retards explain brainlets?
>>41219016those are unironically the brainlets
Consciousness has no shape/form/edge...it is therefore Omnipresent.I subscribe to panpsychism myself, and absolutely agree consciousness cannot be created by anything (brain esp.)Only conciosness itself can be conscious...only awareness itself can be aware."I am aware" and "I am conscious" means...you ARE awareness/consciousness itself
I think it makes more sense that the brain/DNA are just antennas for a specific consciousness unit (soul) to tune in. This would give the illusion of the brain creating consciousness when you monitor the brain or alter it with lobotomy since you'd be observing what's essentially a portable radio unit functioning while it's receiving a signal from elsewhere

>>41219016How do you explain it?Why are you placing all responsibility to explain consciousness on "materialists?"Is this a tacit admission that you only seriously expect materialism to be able to explain it?"It's magic and God" isn't an explanation.Trying to tear down another belief doesn't prove yours. How about actually trying to argue and support your own claims?>Buh that's haaaard!

>>41220230I was making a more general comment about how the anti-materialists here use materialist concepts.Even the idea of different "dimensions" or "realms" such as heaven and hell is rooted in material experience: rooms in a building or fenced / demarcated land."Spiritual energy" is often talked about in substance terms. It can be "drained" or "replenished."Using metaphors to speculate isn't enough. For one metaphors are by nature incongruent comparisons, and they are frequently wrong.
>>41220237I'm kind of a cosmic person myself...
>>41220251>Even the idea of different "dimensions" or "realms" such as heaven and hell is rooted in material experiencePhenomena can be immaterial. Like when you dream the world around you is not a material place but still a phenomenal reality. To get rid of all phenomena entirely would cost us all reference points.
>>41220264But that phenomenal reality is spacio-temporal and comprised of experiences that greatly mirror and reference waking reality. My point is that referencing the material is unavoidable. There is no justification for a dualistic split.
>>41220300>My point is that referencing the material is unavoidable. There is no justification for a dualistic split.Hm...
>>41219016Most people don't use their brains to think, instead mimicking complex movements based entirly on perceived sensations. That's why when these people eventually fall into the trap of marijuana, as everyone who have ever done it before fhem had, they become crippled and unable to function, as it dulls their ability to mimic.
Who says the brain does the thinking besides a bunch of antichrist scientists?
>>4122035799.99% of modern people.
>>41219016Amazing stuff, but it doesn't refute the brain as the centre of consciousness (any further than can already be done through religious diatribe). Compare hydanencephaly (the folded top of the brain cortex fails to develop at all) with hydrocephaly (events where too much fluid accumulates in a working brain over time). Can you guess which one of these is marked with severe problems in development, and which is the one where people appear "normal" (at time of diagnosis)? One situation is "will these marbles collapse if I reduce this structure", the other is simply: "no marbles at all". Picrel.> Hydranencephaly"Hydranencephaly is a rare congenital central nervous system disorder occurring in 1 in 10,000 births and reported in 0.2% of infant autopsies.1,2It is characterized by the complete or near-complete absence of the cerebral cortex and basal ganglia with preservation of the thalami and brainstem.3,4This condition is believed to arise from the intrauterine occlusion of the bilateral supraclinoid internal carotid arteries, leading to resorption of cerebral tissue typically supplied by the anterior circulation.3, 4, 5, 6 Because of the arrested development of the bilateral cortices, patients with hydranencephaly present with severe developmental delays, spastic diplegia, visual impairment, and convulsive episodes, predominantly of the myoclonic type.7"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.wneu.2020.09.029

>>41219016Consciousness is evidence of a creator. He has had many names, but the name you should be trying to find is the name of his son.
>>41220251There's just no vocabulary for a lot of these non-material things since the concept is underdeveloped. And referencing material items as a metaphor isn't nonsensical if it gets the point across
>>41220350I'd even say that the few people who do use their brain to think still relies on automated reflexes for 95% of their daily activities since conscious control is very slow and causes a lot of fatigue
>>41221447What would happen if you slap his head? Would he fall into a coma or something lol
>>41219016People living normal lives with half a brain doesn’t prove consciousness can’t be material.Consciousness isn’t tied to any particular spot of the brain. It’s an emergent property of the entire system’s structure and dynamics. What matters is the pattern of information processing. For a system to be conscious, it has to:> contain information about itself or the world> unify that information into a coherent whole> maintain relative independence from outside interference> sustain stable patterns of processing over timeAs long as the remaining brain network can still meet those requirements, consciousness persists. Also this >>41221447 is true.

>>41220636Jobs and relationships aren't everything. They don't make you a better person
>>41226322Disagree. Relationships and job are definitely things that make you a better person. Having rich relationships is transformative. And a job can change everything about you, for example a soldier. What kind of person is a soldier. Or a rich business owner. What kind of person is that? Wether you think it’s a better or worse person is subjective, the point is that it has an impact on the quality of the person.
>>41226196That’s Bentov’s theory of fundamental consciousness. Notably different from Donald hoffmans theory of fundamental consciousness. People like to conflate the two though because they don’t really know what they are talking about when they say fundamental consciousness or what the implications are philosophically in relation to their other beliefs. They aren’t always coherent.
>>41226322>>41226416Physical wellnessIntellectual wellnessEmotional wellness Spiritual wellnessSocial wellness (that’s relationships)Occupational wellness (that’s your job)You could also add financial wellness All of these categories have the potential to make you a better person if by better it means you are happier and fullfilled.
