Nice, looking forward to adding to "The List". It's free to see, I just like Patreon's format

>out of print books are always the good ones
Yes. I’m reading a really good one on hollow/expanding earth theory “land of not horizon” by Kevin and Matthew Taylor but it was a little pricey. Wish the authors would release it again. I even thought about asking them to do that on their twitter
https://x.com/mattjamestaylor
Because I recommend it so much but no one wants to pay $40-$50 for books

I know this book gets brought up a lot for Covid but the biggest takeaway for me was that everyone gets HIV and the vast majority of us just fight it off. The part about the scientists who discovered it saying it probably doesn’t cause AIDS and then RFK showing it was Fauci’s AZT medicine causing AIDS should be a major topic on every alternative podcast, over and over
Fauci literally made money by causing AIDS when he acted like he was curing it

If you’re a Jung fan, you might like Freud:making of an illusion
Where Frederick Crews points out how Freud was a liar who rarely (if ever) cured anyone and did a bunch of coke. It’s 750 pages, Crews used to be a Freud fan before becoming a critic and I think Crews doesn’t take it far enough about Freud’s sexual deviancy
Freud was an asshole to Jung after Carl started to surpass him in knowledge and fame

Wild, I never liked Freud either

Lynne Kelly helped me realize that sites like stonehenge, and ancient traditions and rituals, aren't just stories and spiritual mumbojumbo. The function is to create literal encyclopedias inside the minds of people, before there were books or computers. For practical things including 1000s of species of birds - anything.
The first book is a broad overview. The second book dives more in to how to do it yourself. It's surprising how much a regular person can retain, and how retarded the modern school system is at preventing it.

I think the value in Freud is not the actual practical long-term value of his concepts. His value was breaking the barrier of psychology being an actual science or therapy. Before Freud, psychology/psychiatry basically didn't exist. People just suffered alone and didn't even consider talking about or seeking external help aside from maybe friends and family, but even then there was pride and other factors involved in silently suffering. Nobody wanted to be literally cast out or sent to the asylum. Mental things were attributed to really odd concepts like "fumes" or spirits etc.

Yeah I agree with this. I think the Crews book is often correct in criticism but throws the baby out with the bath water.
More than that it seems Crews objective was to take the criticism from Freud abandoning “seduction theory” the theory that sexual abuse as a child can make people anxious later in life for the theory that people make it up when they have an oedipus complex (like the book “the assault on truth” suggests)
Crews gets many criticisms right but acts like people weren’t abused as children and those memories never get repressed.
He also misses the benefits of Freud while pointing out the flaws in psychoanalysis. Benefits you point out well
