I don't have a church to point you to, I had a falling out with the leadership there who had become like the Pharisees over time. If that's the kind of thing you need, God will surely lead you. A group of believers is good to learn from each other, it's how it's supposed to be. Some believers think baptism's just a ritual. I can't recommend any other way since that's what worked for me, and Jesus and the apostles weren't too good to get baptized. The Holy Spirit was upon me before baptism, but only entered me at baptism. It's the experience of feeling full of love which is not from you, but from God, which is God, which makes obeying the commandments so much easier. All those life circumstances you mentioned remain the same, but the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Wisdom in the proverbs, and can help you navigate them so much better.
