For years I was doing this "just breath and watch the breath" meditation thing. But I think that you are supposed to train your breath to be calm and slow, and your muscles to be relaxed, some people already have them relaxed but most no.Only after holding a good posture and teaching my breath and muscles to be relaxed I was able to enter in deep meditative states.
>>41237114Is stage 2 of that hearing your heart beat and sychronizing tge count of your breathwork to heartbeat?
>>41236166If you tried to go poop everytime you went pee you'd be surprised what you find
>>41236166Either is fine with me
>>41237398I've heard something about this yes but I don't know anything.Where did you hear/read about it?
>>41237501>does he even turn himself about
>>41237114this is good
>>41237398I wouldnt number stagesbut after you slow the breath down a good deal until it is very fine, there is a period where the heart will speed up and slow down along with the breathwhen this happens you need to focus your attention on the heartit is a direct experience of the chinese word Xin, heartmindwith your attention there then you keep working to bring the heart into harmony with the breathonce you get past that, then you are more or less smooth sailing primarily working on cultivating awareness alonegetting past this is pretty much required for the great stillness to manifestyour heart becomes more or less imperceptible after thatunless of course you specifically pay attention to itbut at that point the focus should be up in the midbrain, gently
>>41237604The basics were taught by my Other Half, I just refined her technique.> I count my breaths.> If I can, I close my eyes.> After a time I start hearing my heart beating.> I synchronize the count to my heart> My heart will beat slower> So the count is also slowerThis has the effect of filling me with calm when I need it, and stave off physical pain. I assume this must be the first step to proper meditation.
>>41237800>with your attention there then you keep working to bring the heart into harmony with the breathElaborate on this please, what exactly I have to do? Make the heart beat at a slow rate at all times?
>>41238173no, when your breathing reaches a low enough rate and the heart is speeding up on the inhale and slowing down on the exhale, you need to bring the focus of your attention to the heart and just gently give it a calming intent.you cant force the heart, much. but that notion isnt proper for this technique I'm discussing anyway.for all intents and purposes, its just a gentle guiding intention to calm the heart and harmonize it with the breath.this will have a side effect of lowering your pulse rate in general, when you've trained enoughdudes I know who are in good meditative shape have a resting pulse in the 50s
Thanks, dude. I was kinda tripping.
>>41238173the technique is basically what to apply in that moment these things take placeprayer mudra can help, ironically enoughbut not necessary
>>41237398Your lungs will begin to tingle when you breathe if you don't right. It feels very pleasant
>>41235921
>>41237398I'm never aware of my heartbeat so I don't think it's necessary to do any "synchronizing". I think you can force yourself to use a particular established technique if you try for long enough, but I found better results trying new things for a week or two until I found something that worked for me rather than the other way around. Ultimately you're attempting to use focus to quiet the mind, through the quieting of the mind you can truly relax, through the relaxing you can knock on the door. From there it's simply a matter of going through it.
>>41240172if you do enough work, at some point, it becomes the loudest thing in the room
>>41241590If you're still hearing/feeling/seeing things you haven't gotten through the door yet
>>41242788one has to get through hearing/feeling/seeing things before getting through the doorlike I said, if one does enough work, one will reach a stage where the heart is the loudest thing in the roomthere was no insinuation that things dont progress beyond this, in fact there were explicit statements about progress beyond this
>>41238984I see thanks. So the proper meditation steps are:1) Get in good posture2) Focus on the muscles and relax them3) Focus on the breath and relax it, make it deep, prolonged and silent4) Focus on the heart and relax it too5) Focus on the midbrain and cultivate awarenessRight?
>>41244205in a very abridged nutshell, yesposture is important, straight spine allows for the most free gut movementthe cranial nerves are important to attenuateso this means stay still, have a quiet atmosphere, relax eyes, tongue, face, etca bunch of the cranial nerves access the facethe perineum should be used to time the breath off of since it has the shortest distance to travelhabituating the process is very important, you're not going to make advanced stuff happen with 20-30 min per day, you need several sessions of 5-30 min and then at least 1 hour at the end of the daythere's a lot of this that needs refinement before the heart is to be focused oncultivate diligent awareness at all times
>>41237114>pranayama before dharanaThanks Patanjali
>>41245783Heh, I've never read anything about Yoga and what you wrote now made me search about these terms, so even in Yoga breathwork comes before meditation.
>>41237604I freaked out when that happened, made me forget how to breath manually for a minuteThere's a stage where you see things, I forgot where I read it but it's apparently common too. I both read and saw for myself.
>>41246402sure, just dont pay attention to the scenery
Realize truth. The fire is burning iny lungs and it is pleasant. Air is oxygen. Your lungs combust it and out comes water vapor
>>41237484>Aether*
>>41236038green to red machine head
>>41236038I walk from my machine
>>41235921Shutup Poland.
>>41235921now that im overworked and stressed by too many responsibilities i understand the purpose of this type of meditation now. if i become a being whose only job is to breath in and breath out, all my responsibilities vanish for a while. like im just some animal, as nature intended.
>I breathe, Therefore I am >I breathe>wait did I breathe?>fuck, Breathe>oh fuck im manually breathing>OH FUCK IM BREATHING
>>41247571its kinda funny when you get to the part of>hah, I cant tell if I'm inhaling or exhaling right now>no matter, just keep the gut motions going, they know what to do
>>41247458It can be used that way, but not quite the "purpose", bit like saying a car's purpose is to impress people. Using meditation to relax from a stressful life is like using alcohol to cover up social anxiety, it certainly works, but might find yourself with more than you bargained for if you don't address the root issue.
>>41250274Well one thing I learned when I was vying with Satan is that there is an emptiness at the bottom of the mind. The trick is to dissolve the root cause into this root of emptiness (the Tathatagharba) rather than doing shadow work. My second worst decision was having Faith that Jesus was the Christ instead of realizing that the emptiness I bled for was True insight into Ultimate Reality. My second worst decision was praying the Hail Mary when I was scared of demons. The bitch nearly killed me. I am very content now. My current project is realizing that armor in Old School RuneScape doesn't really matter, and then I will apply this direct realization into anatta and the Heart Sutra doctrine that there is no attainment and nothing to attain. I am vying for Ultimate Self-Mastery as opposed to Mastery over the Prince of this World. In fact, it's still a struggle with the Accuser.
>>41250311>Well one thing I learned when I was vying with Satansatan is not even a real entity, its a (((meme)))itsallsotiresome.jpg
>>41250311I probably shouldn't say this, but when Gabriel interprets the prophecy of the Book of Daniel to mean the Great Northern King will stand up to the "Prince of Princes," he could mean the King tries to take the World back from Satan. But I actually had a dream, which was my punishment for drinking alcohol. The earth became a vacation planet and I was doing some kind of game (it wasn't sports) on a beach and everything, even the Sun, was run by Amazon.com. So I think Jeff Bezos actually conquered the planet, if you believe the dream. On the bright side this could make earth into a "higher planet." The only reason to live on earth is to conquer it, but if it becomes a vacation planet it would be more like Planet Indra where sentient beings go to rest after doing serious yoga on lower planets. If you understand this about yoga and higher planets you will truly get it
>>41237114For me the first time it clicked was when I applied it to a busy situation like waiting at a crossroads during busy traffic, focusing on my breath seemed to almost dim the noise entirely and I realised I could not control the noise, but I could control how to feel about it
>>41235921>YH>WH
>>41250422Yes that's how I started too, getting control of my anger as a teenager. The next stage for you, it seems, would be melding into emptiness so literally nothing affects you. This is an introduction to Yogacara. Use the Diamond Sutra's:>Let nobody say, I will set about the Transformation of a world. Use the Lankavatara's:>The world is always Mind-onlyAnd consider Vimalakirti's>The Saha-world is the Buddha's Pure LandThis is essentially fusion into the Pure Light of Bodhisattva Universally Good, and speaks to the rise of Across the Universe, jai guru Deva Om. If you're content anywhere you have the essential rite of OmnipresenceAlso being content is semantic knowledge, which is why the goal of your Bodhisattva path is Omniscience
