Everyone was very aware of death and couldnt ignore it. People didn't want to die but they were more afraid of the issues with living. This was a huge influence on why people wanted to have kids. If his son died then the wife did the work. This happened as recently with some bridge building in new york in 1800s. They also use to use kids to set off gun powder and explosives for mining and clearing. Called them powder monkeys. The thinking was they were quicker than adults. Also a little more sober. Depending on the era, everyone was either drinking a form of beer, eventually it became coffee and tea. They figured out how to treat water eventually and sold it as bottled water and it became elite and fashionable to drink just water. How did i cope with it? simply doing stuff that i liked, hobbies and physical exercise, seeking co,fort, trying to not be an asshole and reminding me that at the end of the day our time in this world is short and our actions insignifcant.But now? i can't do it anymore, in my situation i just accepted how i am and that i can't and don't want to fit in the soceity i live, so i will turn the lights out for me in a couple of days and thankfully it will be quick.
