>>41254116Depends on what crystal and what metal we are talking about in your case. I just take a wild guess and say this might be basic quartz or zircon and the metal just plain steel. You can try to heat the wiring steel with a gas flame. As steel has a much higher coefficient of thermal expansion as quartz or zircon it expands much more and the crystal might fall out on itself or come out with some light pushing. If it is a quartz you have to be careful tho: at roughly 600°C the crystal structure changes from alpha to beta quartz which goes along with a change in density. If the heating and cooling is done too quick, this change in density might lead to cracks. You could also use a power grinder to cut through the metal, but you have to be very careful as the cutting discs contain tiny pieces of very hard minerals like silicon carbide or aluminium oxide (these are what actually does the "cutting"), which are hard enough to scratch the surface of both quartz and zircon, so it will lead to ugly scratches if you accidentaly hit the crystal or cut too deep throught the metal.
