You can't just force these things through, otherwise every 12 year old posting dumb jumpscares on tiktok would be able to force through a new conspiracy. Roy Jay had a bit of hold because he's weird, and because a lot of especially younger people find his act uncanny. The reason they find him uncanny is because they have grown up with a media landscape that is incredibly sanitized and focus tested. Even your average standup comedian is overly media trained and self conscious of The Industry. Roy Jay is representative of a time in entertainment when genuinely bizzare, idiotic, bad decisions could get up on stage and be filmed. Not just bad because it didn't land but bad because it's entirely from the brain of this one singular asshole. You can't get someone like Roy Jay on tv today because no one is willing to be that vulnerable and no one allowed within 50 feet of a tv camera is allowed to be this much of an idiot.Which is weird and scary to people when entertainment is such a smoothed over experience since everyone has a phone camera and has basic understanding of production and performance.
