There's a long scientific paper out there somewhere by Anthony Peratt, leading plasma researcher (i saved it but phonefagging rn) on where these symbols occured. Basically they were seeing these symbols in the small scale plasma experiments they were doing and decided to investigate. Elevation, latitude, longitude, approximate year range, etc. Turns out they were all ABOVE a certain elevation, like 8-9000 ft or something, all FACING the same relative coordinates in the sky (depending on location, ie west at one spot was east to another), and all in the same TIME range. Their conclusion was that the glyphs were recording 3D plasma phenomena in the atmosphere as best they could in 2D format. TLDR: may have been flood or other catastrophe related due to the elevations involved, which were not necessarily where the populations were based at the time.
