What is your favorite galaxy? And are we the only smoll beans in the universe??
The Universe is pretty big place. If it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space.
>>41263027There are moments when I think about it... like, if our world ends tomorrow, the universe will continue without a trace of sadness for us.
>>41263013The Black Eye Galaxy !(NGC 4826)
They are already here
>>41263013I don't even know my own galaxy well enough for it to be appropriate to say I have a favorite
>>41263027having pretty lights to look at is enough of a reason to create them
This movie came up in my thoughts! y'all remember?

>>41263013No one has ever seen any of those planets or galaxies frim an earth telescope. Every single thing posted here are fakes. Artist renderings what we are for sure really really really exist
>>41263710Our space telescopes allow us to view distant objects instead of using earth telescopes. For example, we have the Hubble Space Telescope and Webb, which are both well-known.
>>41263013It’s funny how this thread about actual astronomy isn’t popular but the pseudoscience tarot/astrology is on here xdBut I’d say spiral galaxies like andromeda, it’s the biggest galaxy near us and headed our way. As far as other life- we don’t know. We’re limited because we only know life here (earth) Id like to say it’s likely because of the sheer numbers of stars, hundreds of billion trillion stars. In just the observable universe. More than we can comprehend.
>>41263754Are you sure they are real?
>>41263710 Jupiter's moons Vs Saturn's Ring*
bruh leave me alone my existential terror is bad enough as is
>>41264131kek
There’s literally only two galaxies
Andromeda.Because it is so bright and large, and you can even see it with the naked eye.I want to see the Magellanic Clouds, but they are only visible in the southern hemisphere.
>>41264207Where did you read this from?
>>41263013Space is fake and gay anon
>>41263013Triangulum.Every star is an angel, Neutron stars are sapient.
The sad part is most the galaxies we see are so far away we only them billions of years ago, even if there is anyone out there we’re just too far away to ever detect them
>>41265525Some galaxies are blue shifting. For some reason they want you to believe that we can't ever get out of our Local Group, but there are galaxies that are literally flying in our direction at relativistic speeds.

>>41263013>What is your favorite galaxy?M51
>>41263170Got a bit of camera shake in this one.
>>41266853Did you take these?
>>41266853awesome !!!
>>41267015Yeah I just attached my phone to the eyepiece of my 8 inch newtonian telescope and took some 30 second exposures. I do own a CCD camera that can take much better images but I was doing visual observing that night and I just took some pictures with my phone for fun.
>>41266844>>41266853>>41266865>>41267339Have you found the cosmic love Sagan found yet?
>>41267355What I am referring to is the "hyperview" effect. The overview effect is the incredible spiritual experience some astronauts have when viewing the Earth from space. The hyperview effect is the incredible spiritual experience some astronomers have when viewing space from the Earth. It usually develops over time as many observations, and reading about what one observes develops a sort of gestalt of the universe in one's mind. And for some it eventually comes all together and one literally falls in love with the universe, feeling incredible awe and reverence for it.Carl Sagan had a megadose. That's why he was so good at inspiring awe and wonder for the universe in others.
>>41267355>>41267374Not really but I also haven't had to experience of looking through big optics in a low light polluted area.I did feel great joy when I imaged M51 for the first time though and also when I saw Jupiter for the first time.
Gusty garden galaxy.
>>41267339These are beautiful, especially m31 thanks for sharing. Sounds expensive! Post more if you have any
