The modern conceptions of heaven and hell are not biblical in the slightest. Hell specifically comes mostly from Dante's Inferno, the idea that when we failed to meet the mark in this life, we are punished eternally in the next. The punishments all drip with irony, eg: The wrathful killing each other over a bloody pit for all eternity.

I think "Hell" Is more personal, more like what people think of purgatory. It is an open space in which you can leave at any time, but should you be gripped by sin.

If you are driven to wrath, you are placed in a place in which you encounter the things that inspire unjust anger within you. Lashing out at them until you overcome this flaw within yourself. You can leave any time, but holy fuck this is a place where you can just walk over and strangle that guy you hate from high school for all eternity. This IS your highest conception of "Heaven" While in a wrathful state.

The other sins would be likewise. Pride: You are essentially God, everyone does everything you say unquestioningly and until you can overcome the desire to see yourself above others, you are doomed to a fate of seeing the result of your choices. Nobody to blame here but you.

Greed: A place where you can gamble and spend with a limitless purse and see just how good it does you. To leave, simply renounce all those possessions and embrace poverty.

Lust: A place with no post nut clarity or cooldown in the balls. You can cum forever and women of your fancy are all around, determined to keep you there. This one you can literally walk out of, but you'll find every part of you tires far faster than your penis.

Well that's a nice opinion but hell is a lot less romantic than that. It's basically an endless expanse of dark crags, fire, and lava. Like being trapped in the chambers of a permanently erupting volcano. Real fiery. Hurts like shit. The demons torture you. Pretty simple.

>Pride: You are essentially God, everyone does everything you say unquestioningly
That’s not what pride is. Pride is being too proud of yourself and thinking too highly of your accomplishments. Nothing to do with giving out orders.

Kickass! Looking forward to spending centuries in lust/greed purgatory! Thanks OP!

Pride is seeing yourself as above creation. Above natural law, and above God. It's not just about "Gee I sure feel good about my gaming skills" "Wow, I'm really something at math" "Damn look at my gains this past year. That's not pride in the way it's described as a sin by Aquinas or any other church father.

There is a reason it's the worst of the sins.

So if I think I could design a better world than this one, I'm guilty of pride? If that's the case I guess I'm guilty, this world sucks ass.

And if hell is living in that world of my own design then sign me up!

What you need to understand is that basically every popular depiction of religious concepts is heavily simplified and tailored so it can be easily understood even by absolute morons who struggle with more abstract concepts. Most of times it has little to do with actual theology, let alone mysticism
