why do all religions speak of the same thing?
Why wouldn’t they?
The core of all prosocial behavior is the golden rule.We cannot individually comprehend eternity. We also cannot precisely define reality with language. We can imagine various paradises, but its not easy to bring them to earth.
>>41343629It’s a byproduct of the nature of language. Meanings evolve like creatures. We’re at the front of the longest game of telephone. Describing certain concrete concepts, like higher-dimensional entities, thoughtforms, obsessions, morality, and our relationship with nature, all took on different words in different languages. This is what the Tower of Babel story was all about.
>>41343629Because they were all created by the same person (Jesus).
>>41343629mystics are just spiritual junkies for the ultimate high
It’s a protocol
>>41343629They don't.
>>41347365they do speak of the same expierence
>>41343629Religion is the social harnessing of a natural mental defense mechanism that responds to existential stressors, it’s meant to give us comforting answers to questions we don’t, or can’t, know the answers to such as ‘what happens when we die’, ‘what qualifies as truly moral behavior’, and ‘what is the origin of existence’. The reason you see so many thematic parallels across so many different religions is because humans have been asking themselves these same questions since our species first developed an awareness of the Self, and the answers we craft for ourselves are based on our own experienced reality.Haven’t you ever wondered why we so often cast our Creators as either stern, benevolent Fathers or kind, nurturing Mothers? We write what we know, because that’s what brings us comfort.
>>41343629The truth is unchanging and as the source of all, it's impossible for anything emanated to avoid returning to. Most religions have at least some branch of apophatic theology which points to the direct experience beyond affirmation+negation. It's not known through the triad of knower, knowing and known. It's not limited by the mind or any worldly knowledge. The mind doesn't add anything to directly know this. External knowledge is movement and based off of movement which is why affirmation is unnecessary. Negation is also movement and unnecessary but it silences the affirmations and grasping.
