Can someone explain Gnosicism to me? I've tried reading wikipedia but none of it actually makes sense. Does it really have anything to do with christianity?
>>41351988Gnosticism is a religious and philosophical movement that teaches salvation comes through special knowledge (\(gnosis\)). It believes the material world was created by a lesser, flawed god (the Demiurge) and is a prison. Gnostics aim to free the "divine spark" trapped inside them by gaining this hidden knowledge and re-connecting with the true, good, supreme God. Core beliefs: -A flawed creator: Gnostics believe the material world was mistakenly created by a lesser deity (the Demiurge) who is not the true, supreme God. A spiritual prison: The physical, material world is seen as a source of suffering and is essentially a prison. The divine spark: Humans possess a tiny fragment of the divine "spark" from the true God, which is trapped inside their material body. Salvation through knowledge: The way to escape the material world and reunite the divine spark with the true God is not through faith or works, but through acquiring secret, spiritual knowledge (gnosis). Personal, mystical insight: This knowledge is attained through mystical or esoteric insight, or from a divine messenger, which reveals the path to true spiritual freedom

>>41351988http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/sjc.htmlChrist (as an Aeon) is a central figure on gnosticism, one of the emanations of the true God (Monad). This can vary from sect to sect since gnosticism is extremely sincretic, and was never very canonical or standardized. In its core, it's a mix of neoplatonism, Egyptian esoterism, and early Christianism, with some sects having more jewish or more eastern esoteric teachings syncretized on it depending on geographical location. It (unwillingly) antagonized the early orthodox Church and the roman empire, and it's teachings were largely destroyed and prosecuted.>>41352037Excellent summary desu>>41352271I'd say the common belief is that the material world is a prison, and that humans have a divine spark on them. Actually, in gnosticism resurrection is of the soul, and not of the body (mostly)http://www.gnosis.org/naghamm/res.html>>41352746>>41354662I'll check these videos thanks!I'm a dude making a gnostic video game so I try to lurk all these threads and read/watch everything new.
