Anybody else noticing a significant uptick in computer files getting corrupted lately, or is it just me?
>>41356612Hm, did not have that issue in a while ...
Check on your storage's health, might be needing a replacement. Start backing up important shit now.
>>41356628I thought it might have something to do with whatever seems to be going on lately.>>41356637Yeah, I noticed it happening to my external SSD that I lugged around on, so I backed it up my stuff on an external HDD yesterday. Today I found a file in my download folder on my internal SSD was unreadable. And I bought them both years apart.I thought it was a coincidence, but with all the paranormal crap people have been talking about lately it occurred to me that nobody has talked about any kind of major power outage or EMP-like disruption of computers, but I have been seeing lots of crypto shilling lately.
>>41356685Well if you want to spend extra, buy a small drive with just your most valued data, store it in a microwave, when in use, only plug directly into devices without internet. See if these corrupted data trends stop.
>>41356685Peut-être. But that would mean my workstation caught itself a gremlin. Or I left that stupid TeamViewer open again ... I am obviously not a computer specialist. :P
>>41356612No. I unironically store all of my important files on minidisc, and I haven’t had any issues.

>>41356930I always thought it was a magnificent psy-p to spread the rumor that everything on the internet was there forever. Recent years has taught us the internet is very forgetful. And the cloud is a lie.We should really go back to having our own libraries with important information.

>>41356612Now that you mention it JC, I have seen a number of incidents of high processor usage on UNATCO user workstations. In each case, my investigation showed them to be regular software which appeared to have threads hanging in the middle of some searching / scanning / indexing operation across the user's filesystem. Shell extensions, search utilities, patch management scripts, cloud sync programs, etc.I had put it down to old software behaving badly under the new OS rollout, but now you've got me thinking. Maybe someone's looking for something, you know? Using the software that's already in-place.Have you noticed that videos on the 'net are being altered? I'm seeing videos with strange filters inserted into the datastream. It's like static. Like someone, or some thing, has been touching the data blocks directly.
