I believe this question is answered by the field of set theory and higher up category theory, people have asked 'What is the number 7 in reality' before, and the answer is the set of all sets containing 7 elements. Category theory is the aknowledgement that there is no real answer to the above since fundamentally all systems of number are arbitrarily made up, some are merely more useful than others. Higher math's is quite enjoyable from a philisophical perspective.
