King was looking for a different setting, away from Maine, and the isolated, empty hotel before its winter closure felt like the perfect backdrop for a ghost storyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8QHiLOw2iA
I stayed there, the story completely unbeknownst to me and I immediately knew that the hotel inspired the shining. It was eerie. Beautiful place though, the main dining room has a mindblowing view.
