My mum bought the flat around 20 years ago, and since we moved in, I could tell there's something wrong with it. She was afraid to stay alone during the night (I was over eighteen that time and partying often after college until dawn with my friends, and her husband was working night shifts sometimes). Whatever was in this apartment often "stayed" in the two back bedrooms and the other half of the hallway between them (I added a quick drawing of the layout to make the story clear). I was living in the back bedroom [1], and sometimes I could feel a presence of someone in the corner of the room by the garden door. My cat (who was still alive) sensed it too. When the presence became noticeable, he often just stopped purring and stared at the same spot from which I felt something watching me. It was a strange feeling, but I never felt like I was in any danger. Rather, whatever it was, it was curious and simply observed.

Fast forward a few years.

My mom moved to another country earlier this month (we live in England) and offered me a place to stay in her apartment so I could save up for my own place. It was a great deal (especially with current UK situation), so I took the offer. I remember some strange things that happened when I lived here years ago, but I didn't think much of it and I moved here on 1st of October. For shit and giggles, I decided to name this thing Steve, and sometimes was talking to it when I was coming back home or before leaving to work. Just simple phrases like "hello, Steve, I'm home", or "okay, Steve, I'm going to work, keep an eye on my cats" (I have a cat (different from previous years) and my mom decided to leave one of hers here because the cat loves this place and the garden - she took other of her animals with her - she honestly has plenty).

[part 2]

I couldn't feel Steves presence at all but maybe because I decided to make my bedroom out of the living room [3] (it's the biggest room in the apartment) and I keep the door to the other rooms closed as I don't use them at all (I live alone). Until a week ago. I was sleeping when something woke me up. I could clearly see the entire room because the movie was still up. Nothing was there but I felt like I'm in danger. I could point exactly where this thing was standing (which was close to my bed), however, I could see no one. I tried to rationalize it as I just woke up and my mind was probably playing tricks on me, and I tried to fall asleep again. I heard a sound like plates banging against each other in the kitchen. Quick. Short. I figured that the fridge probably kicked in again (its a huge, double door one) and the vibrations from it moved plates that were arranged on the drying rack next to the sink. I tried to sleep again. Around ten minutes later I heard a sound like someone lifted the entire rack and slammed it against the sink. It was as if the dishes were banging together. At first I thought it was one of the cats, but both were in the bedroom with me. I got up, looked around, but everything was exactly as I left it. I took a closer look at the rack itself and it was pretty clear that it's impossible for dishes to hit each other even if I would jump right next to the sink (I arranged them neatly before bedtime). I shit myself tactically and got back to bed. After another few minutes I could hear exactly same noise as the first one, but I tried to ignore it and somehow I fell asleep.

[part 3]

Last Friday I was on the phone with a friend of mine as I got back home from work. I was sitting on my bed, talking to him through headset, telling him what happened a few nights ago. My mums cat was in the garden, and my chonker was chilling in the carpet by the bed. Suddenly, through my earphones, I could hear the scratching sound from the kitchen. Like fingernails against the wood. I stopped mid sentence, removed one of the earphones, and asked my friend to be quiet for a second. My cat reacted as well. She jumped to her feet, fluffed up her fur, looked towards the kitchen, and ran there. I followed but have seen nothing. Honestly, I got scared. Explained the situation to my friend and was nervously walking back and fourth from my bedroom to kitchen. And then I noticed the fucking painting. It's hanging in the corridor along with pictures. It was twisted a good 40 degrees. My legs got weak. It is impossible for me to knock this painting myself when walking towards the bathroom as its lowest point its at the height of my forehead. I would know. Also, being a complete clean freak, I would notice if the painting wasn't hanging correctly the other day. It wasn't.

[part 4 and final]

I called my mom and asked if any of these damn weird situations had happened to her as well, but she said no. She said that she hope that I never tried to speak with it, that it is best to ignore it, but obviously, being a dumbshit I am, I even gave this fucking thing a name. She told me to politely tell it to fuck off, and to hope for the best. I did. I wasn't polite at all with it. But it stopped. At least for now. But now I am in borderline with it. I am super curious what can happen next if I would continue to talk to it. I don't even believe in spiritual bullshit. There's an explanation for everything.. right? I'm tempting to carry on, however, everything inside me scream that it is a really bad idea. Sometimes I feel uneasy, like now, when I'm typing all of this. I have a feeling like something is standing by the door, watching me, but it's probably just my own mind fucking with me. What would you do? I am losing my mind.

That is some scary shit anon, I hope you just follow your feelings, don’t tempt anything that feels unhinged, if I was you I’d GTFO of the house and live somewhere else

Alright, not an expert in the subject in any sense of the word but you should try burning sage and lining the entire place with salt. I've also heard that certain electronics like cellphones give off a frequency that makes whatever the fuck makes our hair stand up uncomfortable. Those are my only really suggestions, and yea do not give it a name. If you acknowledge it proclaim loudly that it's where you live and it's just going to have to move the fuck on and get over it. Best of luck and Godspeed traveler.

good luck anon. might be helpful to learn and say some prayers.

OP here.

My mum was telling me about some voodoo stuff that I can do inside the apartment and it was something about salt. I am not willing to move out. That's my family property, not going to be threaten by some unknown fuck knows what. I have a few weird stories from this place when I lived here many years ago, but it was never that bad. I never felt in danger before (except in the garden, during the night this place is fucking scary). As I said, I don't really believe in ghosts, but I do understand that I may be mistaken and something could be here. If something happens, I'll update.

Thanks, guys.

OP here

Since last Monday, the painting on the wall is exactly how it supposed to be, I tried to find any rational explanation for it to move (wind, anything), but it never moved again.

I am actually curious. This shit is scary, however, a part of me wants to fuck around with it just to see what would happen. Most of the times, when I'm home, I'm feeling normal and safe. Only sometimes I can feel someones presence and it's not pleasant.

I have a camera (because of the cats) at the end of the hallway by the bathroom, facing the front door. I set it up to notify me when someone enters the apartment, but it doesn't record continuously because it doesn't have a hard drive. Shame. I wish that it did, so I could check what the fuck happened with that damn painting as it bugs me deeply.

Have you ever read the ghost puncher greentext? I feel like it may be relveant here. Next time you feel the presence go try and punch the fucker. Short of that make eye contact (stare in the direction you feel it is) and start masturbating.
Short of THAT pray to archangel michael when you feel it. He usually makes the presence disappear immediately if it has ill intent. The other 2 ways are more entertaining though

I've never been religious at all OP, but I was experiencing something similar, culminating in this super oppressive feeling while half asleep. For some reason in this half concious state I instinctively called on Jesus Christ and it immediately evaporated and never came back.
>>
OP here.

I would understand if my mind would simply play tricks on me while I'm half asleep, however, the second situation happened when I was fully awake, just got back from work, it was around 4PM, and my cat reacted to it as well. Odd shit, I'm tellin ya.

OP here.

I am super duper gay.
