Yggdrasil connects the universes with one another, the high (spiritual, alien), and the low (material) realms. The universe we are in is a special place in the midpoint of the tree, meaning more advanced species can travel through Midgard more cheaply than making direct connections.
Yggrdasil is of higher dimensionality than the commonly accepted 2 Real and 4 Complex dimensions (width (Real + Imaginary), length (Real + Imaginary), height (Real + Imaginary), time, mass/energy (Real + Imaginary), and the massless vawe propagation dimension used by gravitational waves). (An object which has Real but nonzero imaginary volume is perceived by scientists as being dark matter. An object which has zero Real and nonzero Imaginary energy is perceived by scientists as Dark Energy)
This means the branches of Yggdrasil are visible as black holes when viewed from our own universe.
To maintain the balance of mass-energy, the mass "annihilated" by black holes is used by Yggdrasil to grow, the inefficiency of this is perceptible as Hawking radiation.
Spiritual and advanced entities can use the energy of Yggdrasil, tapping it like we tap into maple trees for syrup. The energy of Yggdrasil can be readily converted to other energy forms, releasing Hawking radiation as conversion inefficiency, and seemingly violating energy conservation in any universe (energy is drawn from the higher-dimensionality structure of Yggdrasil.)
