Does Buddhism contradict itself in the sense that following the monastic path implies still being bound by the condition of suffering?
>>41386884I don't really care either way.
>>41386918What a valuable contribution, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
>>41386884Suffering is the first noble truth in Buddhism. This fact never goes away. Whether you experience suffering depends on your progress on the path. True monks aren't suffering being on the monastic path. They are just very detached; they are far along their path of liberation. They've let it all go. Plus, the monastic path crates a Sangha for the community for refuge and to spread the Dhamma
Why would it?
>>41386884Other way around, as the faggot buddhist made explicit. They say you cant escape suffering, then they say that dude over there escaped suffering. It's idiotic.
>>41386884The three marks of existence (Suffering, not-self and impermanence) are interlinkedOne can only suffer so long as one identifies as being a person, since that person is destined to undergo difficulties, conflict, misfortune, sickness and deathIf you don't constantly reify that belief that you are a person, and that distinct entities and events exist, all of that actually fades away by itself in direct experience. It's like watching sports, if your team is playing that you support and you're incredibly passionate about them, and they lose horribly, you'll be very upset. But if you watch a sport you don't care about, you don't mind who wins or loses. In theory this falling away of the notion of self is more likely to occur when living a simple life of meditation, but it can occur as a layperson just the same.
