I have practiced kundalini for 7 years and I am capable of things like tummo, field manipulation, and i've had a couple full awakenings of the crown chakra as well. First of all a good place to start is to activate the solar plexus chakra, in pic related the green-ray energy. This is the seat of the spirit-fire. You can activate this by drawing a negative energy from the root and then a positive energy from the heart. When these two energies meet an interaction occurs which lights your spirit fire and numerous abilities that you've seen from yogis are enabled while you're in the state. Your will has tremendous control over the body in this state. When I say positive and negative energy, there is no morality definition to it or anything like that, you should instead perceive it as like in electromagnetism, with a positive and negative charge and they are pulling on each other. You can bring the root energy up to the crown by systemically pulling the negative up by positive energy step by step with each chakra, but for now as a beginner just focus on lighting the spiritfire. In your meditations you will have to develop sensitivity to your chakra well points because this energy is really coming from your subtle body, not your physical body. Good luck.
