not really sure if this is more /x/ or /lit/ or /his/ or whatever but figure it's weird enough only people here would be ones who have actually done it. (everyone I describe it to and even people who read jung just think it sounds psychotic, which it kind of is to be fair)

Anyone here do things like jungian active imagination? How long have you been doing it, what have you gotten out of it?
It's a very weird subject as it's jung like #1 recommendation for people to eventually get to and is the whole point of individuation, and people read his read book "his log of his experience with it" but I really don't see very much of people talking about actually doing it. (I have 0 idea why you'd read the red book instead of just doing it yourself)

I started recently and have had a very... like "hardcore" response to it and have found it like shockingly visceral and interacting with the autonomous complexes. Already think I've gotten quite a bit out of it, surprised to never hear anyone else really talk about it.

My current method is:
>sit/lay down half way comfortably in a dark room on a couch
>have a keyboard plugged into my phone, but don't look at the phone screen at all (i can type really fast without looking which is very good for this)
>start basically doing the free writing trying to write without consciously thinking about it at all
>do this for 30 minutes, i've found it takes ~10 minutes or so to really get in the rhythm and come in contact with my complexes

I then read through and organize/edit the transcripts and then have LLMs analyze them as well. Decent process for I think.

Might just start writing another roleplaying session that way but sure sounds interesting on paper. Any book recommendations with this?

for jung the best starting book is modern man in search of a soul then I'd two essays on analytic psychology, archetypes and the collective unconcious and then aion.
it's not something to do really for creative content it's basically inducing psychotic episodes to get in contact with the unconcious

Sounds properly shamanistic. A dream diary is likely safer but hey, could likely handle that. Thx for the recommendations! :)
