I don't post in this general much, but I'm becoming increasingly interested in these topics, so take a bump from me.If you had to rattle off a few of the most important things you've learned from esoteric Christianity, what would they be?

Hello friends, I have been reading Pistis Sophia. Currently in the third book out of four. Christ talks a lot about mysteries throughout all of these books, but where in the world does one even learn them? When I talk to my own spirit, she tells me it's basically impossible for her to reveal to me information that's not already in my head, at least though the filter of the mind (which is used to translate her messages into surface thoughts/natural language). She's (currently) limited to using things I've already learned and distilling them into wisdom I had not yet realized. Unlocking anything I haven't seen would require me to be able to understand her wordlessly, and that's a not difficult for me at the moment. Are there any surviving Gnostic texts where Christ explicitly covers how to perform any of the "24 mysteries" he discusses in Pistis Sophia?
Remember to pray to your guardian angel from time to time."Quoniam Angelis suis mandavit de te, ut custodiant te in omnibus viis tuis.In manibus portabunt te, ne forte offendas ad lapidem pedem tuum."(Psalm 90:11-12 (91) Vulgate)ANGELE DEI, qui custos es mei, Me tibi commissum pietate superna; (Hodie, Hac nocte) illumina, custodi, rege, et guberna. Amen.ANGEL OF GOD, my guardian dear, To whom his love commits me here; Ever this (day, night) be at my side, To light and guard, to rule and guide.Amen.
>>41454431I converted from Guenon-Evola perennialism and there are few traditions I have more contempt for now. Men who read that stuff are intelligent and gifted enough that they should really know better, it's designed to trap Western men who are dissatisfied with the state of the West into submission before inferior traditions, and the defeatist streak it seems to foster also sickens me, and that's something considering I am fully aware we are in a fallen world which only gets worse as time goes on, but these men really seem deeply averse to doing anything at all, because they have no Church, no Sacraments, no notion of evangelism. Sad stuff. But those are just my feelings. If you're really a perennialist, you should know the only true argument for Christianity is "I talked to God, and you can too." So get to know Him.
>>41453411For me personally, how important mental prayer is compared to vocal (spoken) prayer. All the Saints (Francis of Sales, John of the Cross etc.) talk about how important mental prayer (meditation, for the advanced contemplation) is, but we rarely hear this preached from the pulpit to the laity. I don't think this is done out of malice by priests, but other reasons, for example, not deeming it as important as it should be.Also how in Meditations on the Tarot by Valentin Tomberg every non-Christian religion has bits of truth here and there, but only Christianity has the absolute truth, as he cites John 14:6 in Letter XIX on the Arcanum of the Son.And also while it is interesting to read about certain mystics or Christian "esotericists", it is always good to keep in mind that for us Christians, salvation does not come from more knowledge, from visions, dreams and experiences, or from gnosis alone, but from grace and faith in Jesus Christ as well as keeping His commandments (John 14:15).Psalm 130:1 Douay-Rheims:>Lord, my heart is not exalted: nor are my eyes lofty. Neither have I walked in great matters, nor in wonderful things above me.

>>41458037Read the whole chapter with a (good) commentary. This section of Ezechiel is highly symbolic of the spiritual adultery (idolatry) of Judah and Samaria against the Lord.Short excerpt from the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible:"Chapter 23 is a graphic allegory and Jerusalem as adulterous wives of the Lord. Much like the Catholic author Flannery O'Connor, Ezekiel's mission is to shock his contemporaries out of their complacency. This chapter is closely connected in theme, imagery, and mes- sage to chap, 16, which portrays Jerusalem and Samaria as sisters of the infamously immoral Sodom. Ezekiel's picture of Samaria and Jerusalem as sisters who commit outrageous sexual sin may be influenced by the narrative of the two daughters of Lot (Gen 19:30-38), who, after the destruction of immoral Sodom, had relations with their father in order to conceive sons, Moab and Ammon. It may not be accidental then, that Ammon (25:1-7) and Moab (25:8-10) head the list of Ezekiel's "Oracles against the Nations" only a chapter later. Thus, Ezekiel's prophecies reflect themes and motife from the Pentateuch."

What are your thoughts on the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, and can you provide any evidence in support of it? When reading a lot of apocyrphal stuff, I don't get an inspired feeling from it -- it feels fake, because it probably is. Not even on the level of proposed historical authenticity, but the literal feeling I have of it in my soul. I can't deny, the Infancy resonates as being authentic, to me. I think a lot of people automatically dismiss it because "muh child Jesus being a little dick to everyone", and they say that it's impossible because God is all-loving and all-powerful, but I almost feel like it makes sense: It's like a parallel to the OT God being vengeful and the NT God having adopted all-loving ways in spite of his wrathful past. Some of the stories too, such as Jesus refusing to learn from his mentors and instead teaching them, fashioning clay pigeons and bringing them to life, or pooling up little balls of water from a stream, purifying them and then chastising another child when the child tries to disperse the water with a stick... it all gives me very much the same vibe as the adult version of Jesus -- one with the explicit purpose of creating joy who was no less quick to speak and act firmly against those who attempted to disperse the joy. It's just a younger, less refined version of the man.If you haven't read it, it's a very interesting read, and it fills in several missing years from Jesus' past. Despite having read it and feeling that there's some authenticity to it, I haven't done much research on hard evidence connecting it to scripture, so I'd be interesting to know if you fellows have any.

Heinrich Hoffmann had the most beautiful illustrations of Jesus. The noble humility of his face is always portrayed so sincerely. The way he was able to maintain a consistent image of Jesus too, even spanning different periods of his life, is amazing. The eyes, nose, mouth, all seem like a natural evolution from child to adult.
