Normally, the Mandela Effect seems fairly trivial. Changes to company logos, deaths of distant political or celebrity figures... things that don't really make a huge difference to your daily life aside from being a bit surprising or unnerving. This thread is NOT about those. What if the Mandela Effect changed something that could put you directly in physical danger due to your ignorance to the change? I just had this happen to me, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Just for context, I'm American and following American road rules. For as long as I've been able to drive, I've known the rule of 4-way stops to be that if there are multiple cars stopped at the same time, each driver must yield to the LEFT car. If I'm in one of 4 cars at a 4-way stop and the person across from me goes first, I need to wait for the car to my left to go, then I would go, then the car to my right would go (they would wait for me because I'm on their left and everyone yields to the left car). It has always worked this way, with no exceptions, for the entire 20 years I've been driving. The other day, I was at a 4-way stop with 2 other cars: one to my right and one across from me. The car across from me went, so then I started to go (there was no other car to my left, so I was next). At the same time, the car to my right started accelerating and nearly t-boned me and started honking like crazy at me.

Thankfully, that other car stopped in time and no accident happened, but when I got home I was so rattled I decided to look up the rules of 4-way stops just to confirm to myself I did nothing wrong. That's when I found out that apparently NOW the rule is that every car yields to the RIGHT car rather than the left car. The fact that such a fundamental rule could change overnight with no warning has terrifying implications.

Has anyone else experienced something similar, where a Mandela Effect change actually put you in physical danger?
>>
Well are you sure this is a case of the Mandela Effect, or is it just you misremembering stuff?

The main thing differentiating the two is in the case of Mandela Effect - multiple people have the same "false" memory. False memories are common, but if it's just you, it's not Mandela Effect.

For as long as I have driven and that's 20 years or so, in practice, it has been first in, first out. Everyone needs to be aware which car arrived and came to a stop first and that guy continues first, and then the next guy to have arrived etc.
>>
>>41501522
>is it just you misremembering stuff?
If it were, I would have had problems before now at 4-way stops, because I have ALWAYS yielded to the left rather than the right.

>The main thing differentiating the two is in the case of Mandela Effect - multiple people have the same "false" memory.
Why do you think I'm here, making this thread?
>>
>>41501565
>Why do you think I'm here, making this thread?

So there are other people misremembering the same thing?
>>
>>41501589
That's the question I'm asking, anon.
>>
>>41501418
It's always right idiot.
>>
>>41501418
So you're the stupid asshole who pulls up to the stop sign that I'm stopping at, clearly has the right of way, and just sits there, confusing everyone and causing a longer pause than if he just followed the right of way rule that he forgot because his brain malfunctioned.
>>
>>41501622
Maybe in this universe or timeline or whatever, but that has never been the case for me before now.

>>41501636
Not at all. Like I said, this has never been a problem before because everyone always used to yield to the left car. I've always moved decisively at every intersection and been aware of all the right of way rules. In fact, my quick and decisive action is part of what almost caused an accident because I suddenly didn't have the right of way in a situation where I would have had the right of way before it all changed somehow.

Y'wanna bet OP drives a Nissan Rogue? It's either that or a Mini Cooper. One of those cars stupid pieces of shit drive
>>
>>41501669
More likely people on your right just let you go because you look stupid or jump the gun on them and it isn't worth pressing the issue. Or if on your left they go because you're just sitting there like a dumbass and they've got places to be.

You sucking at driving is not the Mandela effect.
>>
>>41501735
Anon, this goes as far as being at 4-way stops with lines of cars in each direction and every car including me yielding to the left without missing a beat. I don't know why you think the only 4-way stop situation I've ever been in over the last 20 years only ever involved 2 or 3 cars max. There are plenty of high traffic 4-way stop intersections around me and I'm intimately familiar with navigating them.
>>
>>41501760
>I'm actually not a shit driver I just don't know the rules.

>>41501767
The rules are what changed. I don't know how else to communicate this to you.

g aware of a thing means it was not the way I perceived it before.
Anything but face the truth that you were retarded for a long time.
>>
You're getting attacked for a simple question, op.
Intuitively you should yield to the left, because of slightly better visibility, but admittedly I don't remember because driver's ed was decades ago and I just let vibes run 4 way stops.

Brother, you are not wrong. I have been driving 25 years and it's always been left gets right of way to me too!
I like to think I am a good driver. 3 accidents in 25 years, none my fault.
Is it really RIGHT now? I know I jumped timelines but this shit is getting ridiculous now.
>>
I met an older Uber driver once who straight up admitted
>I’ve got no idea how stop signs are supposed to work
You retards are like him, but you are too self centered to admit you got to a ripe age without learning how stop signs worked
>>
>>41501565
lmao
you've been driving wrong this whole time
Are you my ex girlfriend?
Stop driving next to the curb, Jacque.
You hit it that one time and almost drove into a tree
Also,
stop and pullover for emergency vehicles if there is not a physical barrier between you & them
Fucking retard

Norms change as society changes.
Now in white culture
>two cars arrive at the same time
>nod and wave at eachother for the other car to proceed first
>whoever proceeds first has failed the test

Cars are possessed by demons that help you to drive. Think how few crashes and dented vehicles there are, for the amount of traffic moving around.

You might have slipped in from another universe, but I can assure you that in this universe the left car has always yielded to the right car. In fact this rule originally comes from sailing ships. Red lantern on the left, green on the right. If you can see the other ship's red lantern, you yield. Same principle with the red and green lights on aircraft.
>>
>>41501669
This actually changed a long time ago, but nobody noticed until now.

The “right of way” (the car on the right has a ‘right’ to go first)

But it was left because that makes sense especially if they’re turning right cuz then they would turn down the road next to you and not get in the way and you’d be able to proceed unimpeded, whereas a car to your right has no way to turn that won’t be passing through your path.

Lowkey it’s literally both imo, it’s like a double Mandela, where both are simultaneously true and untrue, cuz my mom used to always tell me this as a kid when we were driving and literally both were true.

Yeah you're right about this one. Which is interesting. I wonder what else is changed. It doesn't actually take too much to do it personally without knowing, so there's always the chance a few people just ruminated the same way on a walkabout.

afaik the most disruptive and random time stuff is weirder. has been due to a bunch of cargo cultists who think they can get to a timeline where the Book of Revelations happens. But this is obviously babies smashing on a keyboard stuff, they're not masters of it. Usually there's a lot of cleanup for everyone else to handle

The spiral reversed, maybe a random side-effect. Could be indicating something different about fundamentals, though. Usually invert goes from taking energy in to pushing it out, or vice versa. Depends on your enculturation, so any message I get from it won't be much help to you

I haven't seen many that could be life threatening, but I've seen some instances in which answers in contests where questions are asked about things like events and such have changed from what the contestants know, so they lost points because of that

I feel like I've seen this thing about yielding to cars from the left before, but I haven't been driving in a long time so I don't know for sure

There have also been some instances in which laws have seemingly changed from what one remembers and in those instances it can be troublesome or even life threatening in rare cases
>>
>>41501418
Bro I’m from the time line that is first come first served. Get out of my dimension you left hand pather. Your going to cause accidents.
