How do I become enlightened? Is it even possible? What are the steps to actually get there? Is there an accelerated path for those who have destroyed themselves internally?
>>41504768no shortcuts.and remember: before enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.after enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.
>>41504768I think there are multiple ways. The fastest way is psychologically join a union with a higher power of any kind that is immortal so that nothing happening to you personally matters so much, as the immortal will still be alive and win in the end, and you are a part of that immortal, so you live with it.

>>41504817I don't recommend gods that seethe. It's bad for you to join union with them.
>>41504789thank you but can you explain how? is Zen Buddhism the right path for me? which school is most effective? can any of you please recommend me some books about the subject. death is intensely horrifying for me, could I use fear and horror to push me? I'm sorry for being a big fucking idiot, but I'm very lost and confused. by everything. all the time...
>>41504826what gods do you recommend to join into a self0effacing parasitic relationship for enlightenment?
Also...I am on strong antidepressants. I can live without them, but I'm intensely irritable and miserable without them. Are they a hindrance?
>>41504874personally I find discussing and attempting to speed track enlightenment only leads to confusing mind games. If you absolutely must read something about Zen, I could only recommend "The Way Of Zen" by Alan Watts but it's pretty much baby's first zen book and I got over it with the years. an entertaining read, but a lot of hot air. alternately, perhaps also "the wisdom of insecurity'' by the same author, might put your mind at ease regarding death, maybe. only two things that come to mind.To me, you're like an undrafted baseball player focusing solely on hitting a grand chelem in the 9th inning of Game 7 in the world series, when you should instead focus on strength training, batting practices, practicing defense drills with your junior team, etc. just take care of business and "enlightenment" will come in due course.
>>41504908I don't know, but I don't think so. this is something you have to decide for yourself, please don<t put these important personal chealthchoices in the hands of random internet users who know nothing about you and your health situation, let alone medical or pharmaceutical protocols.if your medication helps you, keep taking it. if it doesn't, figure out a way to ween off them safely, hopefully with some informed advice from your doctor. good luck.
>>41504945>>41504967Thank you so much for your patience and kindness. I will heed all of this.
>>41504945For some reason I misread, and thought that you mentioned "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind", a book I DO have right now. What's your advice about meditative practice?
>>41504768It's actually pretty easy if you meditate correctly for 2 hours a day. You get into the highest jhana you can (or just as concentrated/serene as you can if you can't access jhana) and do Mahasi Noting to break attachment to the low-level sensations that make up your experience. That will get you to stream entry. From there you can drop the noting and just observe the anicca/dukkha/anatta of all sensations while in a high concentration state to get sakadagami. From there, you will start to occasionally see the three marks of existence in daily life without trying. Make that your full time state and you'll get anagami. Root out the last vestiges of a center-point that suffering can stick too and you'll reach arahant. Pic related goes into more detail and should be a good jumping-off point for you as it's one of the only books that talks frankly about what enlightenment is and how to get it.
>>41504789This. People who try to fast track go insane and become sociopaths.

It will come when your mind is ready to handle it.Have patience with the time it takes to be ready. as with all things, the waiting too will end
