>>41603590I'm just gonna say it. Jesus and his platonic metaphysical god don't inspire any fire or loyality in me whatsoever. I prefer a “Zeus” or “Marduk” rather than “Platonic Ideal of Love”.The God of the OT does it for me. He is like a divine god-king, and he is worthy of my loyalty. A divine warlord I readily would be the vassal of. He also feels much more like an actual god of humanity. Anyone else feel this way?
>>41603912If it makes you feel any better The Second Coming Of Jesus is going to be a war where Jesus does battle with the anti christ.Does that interests you more?
>>41603983Its not that I just love war and bloodshed. Its that Yahweh feels more like the kind of guy we were made in the image of. Yahweh doesn't feel distant but he feels more like one of us, however larger and greater than any of us could be. I have infinite respect for this God and I can him understand instinctively.I also feel like he is a bigger man since he lets us confront him and wrestle with him. Abraham argues. Moses argues. Job shouts back etc.
>>41603912Well Jesus is him
>>41604052I don't give a fuck about Jesus. I'd sooner believe Barabas was the real messiah instead.
>>41604088I love that your dubs are 88Mate, you like the OT God, Jesus is the OT God, so either you like Jesus or you don't like the OT God
>>41604131No, since I don't believe Jesus was the OT god
>>41604155So you're Jewish?
>>41604174No, I just worship the patriarchal sky-father creator god who god who made us in his image. You can call him Yahweh, Yaldabaoth, El, Zeus, Wotan, Shang Di, you can call him whatever you'd like. I worship the one that laid down law, and stamped His violent, creative will on reality itself and put us on this planet to live and stife.
>>41604206Can you reasonably argue your beliefs or did you decide based off vibes?
>>41604236I've seen how nature operates: hierarchies emerge everywhere, from the animal kingdom to human societies, because strength, order, and dominance ensure survival and progress. As for worshiping the patriarchal sky father, it's a recognition of that same principle. In ancient myths across cultures, from the Greek Zeus to the Norse Odin, the sky father embodies authority, creation through force, and the imposition of structure on chaos. He isn't a benevolent nanny; he's the stern enforcer who demands respect and rewards those who seize power. I "worship" him not with rituals or blind faith, but by aligning my actions with his archetype. So no, I did not base my beliefs off vibes.
>>41604289It sounds like beliefs are based off vibes
>>41604390Yes, because you disagree with me so I anything I say can't possibly have any amount of truth much less value to it, right?
>>41604471No I just don't think you can rationally argue your viewpoint
>>41604993Ah, you must mean my viewpoint that the weird hippie that was caught with a naked boy in the garden of Gethsemane wasn't God? That viewpoint?
>>41605024Yes because that weirdo just so happens to be the most important and greatest person in the world
What are your favourite books of the bible?
>>41605202Genesis, Proverbs, Isaiah, Ezekiel, John, Revelations

>>41603590I'd like to be Christian, I feel it would make my personal religious life easier if it were true, with all the churches available and what not.But I just can't seem to be able to have faith in Christ. And it seems like everything that makes sense to me and makes me feel connected to God from Christianity is actually taken from Greek philosophers, and it seems to work even better within their framework.Like for example, a common take is to equate God with the One from Platonic thought. But it actually makes no sense when you think about it, identifying the One with Jesus or Yaveh seems extremely contradictory, since you are making affirmations and giving a personality to the One, or you would be stripping the Bible from all the meaning by having to drown it in heavy doses of "it's symbolic".It makes a lot more sense when you consider that God father is mostly an assimilation of a Cult of Saturn developed by the Jews.On the other hand, there's no practical path for these ideas to be acted upon, I mean the Platonic ideas. There's no theurgy anymore, snd it's not like you can go to a sage and ask him for training.Another experience I had recently, as I tried to kindle a liking for Christianity was that I stsrted going to a church, at least a few days a week. I really liked the silence and how it gave me a place to pray and contemplate. But one day as I was making a donation, I stood in front of the figure of a crucified Christ and asked, please if you are God send me a sign so that I can believe. As I stood there for a while I suddenly got a sinking feeling in my stomach and thought, this was just a man, he was no God. And felt a deep sense of sadness for him and for myself.I feel I could have pretended to be Christian, it would have made life easier, political views would have been easier. But it would have been a lie, it would have been disrespectful.Don't know why I'm telling you this, just wanted to vent my anguish I guess.

>>41605796>And it seems like everything that makes sense to me and makes me feel connected to God from Christianity is actually taken from Greek philosophers, and it seems to work even better within their framework.Yes Christianity affirms both the Hebrew Prophets and the Pagan Philosophers>Like for example, a common take is to equate God with the One from Platonic thought. But it actually makes no sense when you think about it,In Apophatic Theology, God, transcending all his names also trancends his impersonality and his transcendence, making his radically personal and immanentThe 2nd Century Neopythagorean philosopher Numenius of Apamea once asked:"What is Plato, but Moses speaking in Attic Greek?" He believes that because both the God of Plato and the God of Moses were Being itself, "I am that I am">It makes a lot more sense when you consider that God father is mostly an assimilation of a Cult of Saturn developed by the Jews. Please don't take the the saturn kool aid>There's no theurgy anymore, snd it's not like you can go to a sage and ask him for training. There is and they're called the Sacraments, we have centuries of texts on this from Dionysius the Areopagite to Lefevre d'Etaples, as for Sages the Saints and Monastics still exist>Another experience I had recently...I do understand the sincerity of your desires, but please do not accept anything based on feeling, Jesus isn't God because that makes me feel good, what is important is truthLook what I'll suggest, end your engagement with Christianity if you want to, instead look into the Platonic tradition, but not parts of it, look at it throughly, I can help you with finding books if you need, and be neutral, and when you have the right prerequisite knowledge, look into the Christian Platonists, then draw your conclusion
>>41605796>As I stood there for a while I suddenly got a sinking feeling in my stomach and thought, this was just a man, he was no GodThe easiest way of understanding what you are missing is asking yourself why you think there is such a hard separation between "man" and "God." And if you take that thought to its actual conclusion, beyond what you have been told Christianity is about, including by the people who compiled our Bibles, Old and New Testaments alike, you understand exactly what is meant by One.There "is" no other.
>>41603590while I like the content in the original post I do not think that these philosophies need to be linguistically advertised in the form of ideologies.
>>41605796I had trouble having faith in christ beacuse having a radical come to jesus moment. I enjoy church but I find the majority of people in the majority of congregations to be painfully hylic. These people are endearing but insufferable due to my own neurodivergence. A chuch is a place where I should not have to hide my power level.
isn't this general a bit self-defeatingeveryone one of those sects (or any christian sect for that matter) believe they are the one true faith and everyone else is just clueless heretics who should be burned
>>41607392Well we have to fill the OP with something >>41607880Interesting...>>41607883Those aren't sects
>>41607883>everyone one of those sects (or any christian sect for that matter) believe they are the one true faith and everyone else is just clueless heretics who should be burnedIt may be fruitful for you to do slightly more reading than "zero" if you intend to opine. For example, there are multiple texts/sects that explicitly affirm a kind of universal reconciliation (or near-universal, with limited caveats to "deal with" the Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit logia).
>>41604206>god who made us in his image.Dude, there are at least two images, a woman and a man and then there is the secret gender the hermaphrodite, this is the third image.By the way, many folks believe that goddess is much kinder than god

>>41604015You got it all wrong it's not about being "bigger" it's about being loving and righteous. >>41604088Everything you say about Jesus you say about God and The Holy Spirit. And i warn you, to reject Jesus in such a way will invoke the Wrath of the very God you claim to love so much as they are one and the same. >>41604206Now you're falling into idolatry. Seriously, Zeus? Zeus is a false god and a rapist. How dare anyone not only worships him but tries to call him the same God of Christianity.>>41604289Align your actions with them? This is how wars happen, especially wars that result in rape and genocide.>>41607993goddess?
