I'm almost going to attend a Nichiren Shoshu temple to inquire about the basic precept-taking and receiving the prayer beads, instruction booklets, brochures, etcmain issue is my autism; I studied ,extensively trough books and lectures, and I think the GOAT types of buddhism are Dzogchen (frankly unavailable to me) and Nichiren Buddhism; of these, Kenshokai seems the MOST correct--but I can't join unless Im in Japan+am Japanese. Shoshu is second best.I genuinely like the Lotus Sutra and have 0 issues with the doctrine of nichiren -not shakyamuni- being the eternal buddha\original adi-buddha. >any advice\ double-takes\warnings?

Everybody I know of who has done that has gotten there through Theravada methods and occasionally zen, with Dzogchen more useful for reaching the higher attainments once you've already got sakadagami or anagami.

People who skip the practice often have issues with things like ego, greed, anger, hate, unhappiness, anxiety, etc, that would be easily removed with the proper mantra. Mantras are preferable if your goal is a heavenly afterlife, rather than to destroy your self-identity.Mantras can also cultivate extreme levels of pleasure-giving virtues, like happyness and love. Just saying - there can be people with dogmatic views on their meditation path is the only true way to make progress, but then their forum posting reveals them to still have enormous ego issues and anger issues, even though they can reach deep states or trance, or whatever metric they are judging things by.
