When I was a kid I remember getting told a very different story about the fountain of youth. The story was that the natives told the Spanish to walk their exact path. Turn when they turn. Make it easier by just stepping in the native footprints. If you deviate from the path by even one step, you'll be lost to the in-between space. Follow the trail exactly to find the fountain. The Spanish never found it again because when they returned they didn't walk the path exactly right.The same goes for a reported hidden city in the Southwestern Desert. You have to walk the path to it exactly or you'll never find it. Plus many caves are rumored to be pathways to the other world. The green children of Woolpit came from such a cave. They oly work whent hey've been "activated."Plus certain rivers can have the doors in them in a "Pirates of the Caribbean up is down" way where swimming down leads up to the other world. But like the caves they need "activating" under some unknown special circumstances.
