Self-love is one of those terms where it can mean a lot of different things in a lot of different contexts.

Context 1: Self Hating: In the context of being a self-hating person, it is a good thing to accept and love yourself. However the root of why you can't accept others is probably tied to how you cannot accept flaws in other people as well. So by learning to love other people, you will learn to love yourself.

Context 2: Narcissism: Narcissism is basically another word for selfishness, which is the root of evil. No we don't need people to have more narcissism.

Context 3: Hedonism: Marketing to woman uses self-love in the context of hedonism, and buying luxury products for yourself. A little bit of this is fine, but our culture promotes this way to much, and you won't attain lasting happiness from the latest shiny product.

Also of note: Black magic guys - many of them have said they work with a demon that teaches them self-love, which is basically a mix of narcissism + selfishness + hedonism to cover up their insecurities. It's kind of gross.

love by its own nature is for another entity, self love is mostly BS for selling stuff.
God is trinitarian so He actually lives in a nature of love with the different persons loving themselves.
