That's the whole point, they are emotionally homeless, without identity and no way of knowing who they even are. They have no face, and they hope that by imitating you and reflecting (you), they may be able to become human. Maybe. They're not evil, they're not vampires, they're just lost souls looking to grow. What you're supposed to do is treat them with mercy and dignity, and give them something better than your likeness. Give them their own soul, reveal it for them, point to their humanity and show them where it exists within their void-hearts, encourage them to discover it and claim it, acknowledge it exists and is theirs for the taking and was always there.
