Is there anything paranormal about VTM, its conception, its writers, experiences of players etc. Some of this lore gives me the creeps to be honest, but I understand its been going for many years before I became aware of it and the aesthetics of the old stuff gives me the creeps too.
Anytime rpg makers need to write lore they have to turn to real world mythology and fables and make it their own.So yes, it is paranormal in that it is inspired by the collective unconscious, the spirit of humanity. You'll likely find tons of accurate information in it just by chance without the authors knowing shit.Just like D and D is paranormal.
>>41673486This is the kind of reply and insight I was hoping for. While I have never seen a ghost, thank god, when a friend tells me of their experience my body reacts to it as if its the truth. When I read this stuff for entertainment, most of it does the job of entertaining me but there is also that feeling that I am encountering a truth, when reading some details now and then.If you are able to elaborate further please do.
>>41673579One example that comes to mind for me is the Malkavian clan.Surface level it's just crazy vampires. But if you dig deep what you're looking at is a ton of archetypes and ideas about divine madness, divination, and the like.
There are some strange cases of edgy goth teens starting vampire cults and committing murders in the 90s. Look into Rod Ferrell and even the Columbine kids and the Trenchcoat Mafia - both utterly obsessed with VTM, so much so that the latter would name their cells after clans. There are some eerie parallels with the real life Temple of Set's vampire titles, and Aquino's wife's name, Lilith. The founder of White Wolf also worked as a camera man and has a pretty fascinating Bigfoot story.
>>41673444Finally an intelligent thread in this wits forsaken dead board. You're on a very hot trail.

>>41673919I've never heard Columbine shooters liked VTM. They liked FPS games like Doom and Duke Nukem. Thinking of Pearl HS shooting perhaps?
>>41677111Just like your pa
>>41675818Bump, that one too. I think White Wolf put a lot of magical tidbits in their games.https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Banality
>>41677139I wouldn't say tidbits, MTA is basically just an occultism tabletop rpg.
