Characters like the in-game Molay or Germain give us hints at the internal powerplays that arise when a Sage has different ideas than the order de jure. All of this after a character like Alfred reformed the Order of the Ancients into the Templars, who could then essentially usurp Isu technology and doctrine for their own purposes.
