I'm a skeptic, but I believe things like qi and prana are real. But I don't think there's anything spiritual about them, I think that subjective feeling of energy flowing through your body is a material thing that can be studied with western medicine. So, uh.....any idea what the fuck it is? Have the scientists looked into this shit at all? Because they really should.
>>41690226scientists have studied things like pranayama and tantric practises and its real
>>41690270i'm sure they have, and as i said in the OP, i believe it's a real thing, i just don't know what the scientists are hypothesizing it is
Think about it in terms of what you already know. there are like 40 trillion cells in the human body just moving a pinky finger involves hundreds of millions of cells of central nervous system, peripheral nervous system, muscles in the wrist and palm, and of course the bone, blood, and tissue cells in the finger itself. every thought that goes through your brain is formed by interactions of billions of neurons. life is complex compared to abiotic structures and humans are complex compared to other life. it only makes sense that there are subtle paths of interactivity and energy flow in this massive system that are not as easy to measure as, say, the flow of blood or air in the lungs
>>41690436You don't have to think about a human body in terms of individual cells, though. That's like thinking about a computer in terms of ones and zeroes. You don't need binary, there are higher level languages like python that are much easier to read
>>41690472a computer is vanishingly insignificant compared to even a fly. one animal cell can contain a gigabyte of information. a fly can have 100,000 neurons in its brain alone, basically there's 100 terabytes of information in a single fly brain. a lot redundant and a lot not accessible but in terms of raw storage, its that. my point being that in order to understand how things like qi and prana are real we need to stop thinking in terms of python and look deeper at the binary which may be (is) more complex than we realize. or maybe, not to stop thinking in macro terms altogether but at least acknowledge the unforseen variables
>>41690226 These are spiritual energies. What we perceive as the body does not truly exist; it is, in fact, a bundle of various elemental energies that generate all of our experiences: sight, touch, bodily sensations, every kind of perception, and so on. I know this is difficult to believe, but it is the very realization that practitioners attain. Without a spiritual foundation, not only is control over these energies impossible, but their engagement can also lead to various disorders, ranging from physical to psychological.
