It seems that we live in hyperreality these days. I'm not talking about the Internet. I'm talking about how we can look at something with physical indisputable evidence staring us in the face, and then we can effectively deny that it isn't there just because we're uncomfortable with it or it offends someone. We no longer have direct cause and effect thinking anymore. Critical thinking is of little use in our society. The perception of reality is determined by abstract ideas such as societal constructs of whatever "makes us comfortable". We think therefor it is as such. Sure - seeing is usually believing, but not anymore. People can stare at something sitting right in front of them and not see it because they are choosing not to.Is this healthy? Fuck no. It's insane. Words have more importance than solid evidence anymore. Truth is no longer what can be proven - it's what we choose to believe.Example 1: A lot of you are itching for UFO disclosure. Do you actually think such an event would be as impactful as you would imagine these days? Do you realize how many people would see aliens staring them in the face and then deny that they're actually present?Example 2: Let's say that Christ returned. Again...same situation. Actually, a ton of devout Christians would DENY that this is their Messiah. They might even trick themselves into thinking that this is Al-Dajjal and it's all an elaborate test of their Faith.Example 3: Now, here's a scenario we already went through - COVID-19. Yes, folks. That was a prime example of hyperreality - it wasn't real and we know it deep down. At the beginning of it, there was a sort of romantic fascination at this being a possible end of the world, but as the realization started to set in...people started getting cabin fever or going into psychosis. The event was a simulation to gauge the general population, and they gathered crucial behavioral data on us. Suffice to say that we behaved like the cattle that we are.
