To learn to be kinder to yourself is a difficult thing but is infinitely rewarding. The Inner Critic thinks he is doing us a favor, but all he is really doing is causing us to freeze with the threat of his whip.Second, it is really just a fear-exposure thing. First, you are shown a photo of a snake, then you are in a room with it, then you hold it, etc. Third, the vast majority of men have gone through this. Some were lucky to just go through it sooner than later. The best thing is to have self-accountability and some tools. Self-accountability: I will not let this date end before I have tried the tool. The simplest tool is the lean. Find a moment, speak slower, and lean in while holding eye contact. See how she reacts. Fourth and most importantly, it is to understand that not trying hurts an unspeakably greater amount than failing. I have spent the last nine months wandering the world in some dark forest because I had been offered the Grail for the third time but still could not take her.
