I worked five years in the funeral business in a major metropolitan area. It doesn’t get “easier”, so much as it just becomes normal for you. Dealing with it frequently and being around your coworkers turns it into just another day while you’re actually doing it. I always had the problem of thinking about it too much when I wasn’t there, so I drank a lot. I left the business because I was sick of seeing dead kids, people my age killing themselves, and being treated like shit by owners and corporations. It’s a rough business, and you have to be able to basically fracture yourself to be truly successful and stay in it, be an actual psychopath, or be brain dead and retarded so you don’t think.
