ITT: Anything related to Japan,Paranormal stories, urban legends, secret history, esotericism in media, etc. Preferably, and the main reason, but not exclusively, I want to talk about physical places in Japan that are cursed or secret, and also, for personal reasons: I also want to know about websites, Japanese or not, that contain this type of thing. I remember reading in a forum about the Yatsugatake mountains having paranormal activity. So, personal experiences are also welcome here.If anyone is old enough to have first-hand experience with Futaba-chan, I want someone to talk about it, experiences, anecdotes, weird events, and also strange discussions that appeared there at some point. If anyone knows Japanese and was around 4chan or other forums around 2010 or around that time frame, I want to know if there were esoteric discussions about Touhou Project or stuff related to it being shared. Documents, websites, images, text, anything is appreciated. This is because these people seem to know a lot about Japan.
lazy masquerade on yt does a lot of japan mysteries and true crime lore.
Tonari no Totoro is based on a real story of two children who disapeared around a lake. Probably drowned. I saw this on a japanese variety show once.

>Jusco ATM Phantom Basically, there was an incident where this 'woman' framed this old man that was leaving an ATM for stealing something from her(money or purse). The police manhandled tf outta the old dude and which lead to his death. And what really freaked people out was her face looked like a monster's face on the CCTV footage, like all green and stuff. She was never caught. I feel she was a reptilian or something, maybe the camera exposed her.>Knight Scoop Vinyl String Incident There is this lighthearted show that investigates mild weirdness around Japan called Knight Scoop. Almost all of their investigations went smoothly barring one: The Vinyl String case. What was happening was TONS of this rope/string was being wrapped around the landscape in an area of Japan. The team was all ready to air the episode explaining it more, but unfortunately they were told not to by someone, and let the viewers know via a written on air message. It was said to be because a mentally ill person was doing it, but I do not really buy that. It think they stumbled on to something sus enough for it to get the episode axed.
