I was born Christian but am finding it extremely difficult to maintain my belief. Everytime I overcome a hurdle a new barrier to belief comes along, whether it be textual criticism of the Bible, gnosticism making more sense, evidences for evolution, the seeming randomness of people's outcomes, etc. I really want to believe but I can't. But I'm also not a complete materialist, I have had paranormal experiences, and I believe there is things beyond the physical, but I'm not sure what. I am open to other religions, I lived near a Sikh community for years and they generally seemed like better people than many Christians. What do you guys believe and why? I want to move forward with my life.

I’ve been there, bro. The fact of the matter is that a lot of Christians are cringe hypocrites.

My advice: read and re-read things that Jesus actually said. Everything else is colour and opinion. Let Christ be your teacher. He’s a damn good one. Don’t worry about the particulars or “is it a metaphor?” or “my denomination can beat up your denomination” shit.

Your worldview will always be evolving. Reintegrate Christ as needed.

You aren't gonna be able to brainwash yourself if your intuition is telling you it's not the truth.

There are many layers of truth. It’s not a binary. Use fuzzy logic. Probabilities. Challenge yourself with humility.

im going through the exact same. its been hard but i find comfort in knowing im not the only one who feels like this. youre not alone fren. stay strong

gnosticism makes more sense because it is correct.
but you do not go the way of truth. you go the way of love. you care for the environment because of love. you care for best outcomes based on love. to not base it, does not mean, it does not contain it.

Read my divinely inspired book being released in a few days (or weeks, max) time. It has a chapter in it that separates the ~90% lies of the Bible and Jesus' saying from the ~10% truth, and sheds a lot of light on Gnosticism.

>What do you guys believe
Ancient polytheism, Greek might be the most accurate but nothing is word for word correct.

> and why?
Saw magic in company with receiving information. I think it's very unlikely that something like Christianity is accurate and that was a prank.

>I was born christian
Thats like saying I was born a furry. It's not possible and either a cringy LARP or you mean your parents were christian and raised you this way

textual criticism shouldn't make you doubt the faith unless you're a KJVonlyist idiot, who are a minority
