The entire problem with reality as a "trap" is the inability to know whether and the status of, a "real(er)" body "somewhere else". Maybe somewhere else in the universe, maybe outside of it entirely. If you do have a real(er) body elsewhere, then something terrible could be happening to it, in which case failure to find a way out and wake up is the same as falling for the trick outright. If you wait to die and then expect to get out after detaching from the psychophysical, perhaps that's all that's needed to keep you distracted and submissive until your real body expires. Then you die and that's it. If you have a real body outside the illusion, then remaining here may not be an option.
