The test was simple, and was primarily of course meant for Eve - would she choose to go with the literal word of God, or believe in the lies of a serpent. The things she (ex's mom) said that my mother said THAT I SAID about them (my ex and her family) were HIGHLY disparaging and painted me in a very bad light - painting a psychological profile of me that was quite literally psychotic and highly toxic. My ex KNEW me better than any other woman I've ever been with, and she KNEW that what her mother was telling her about me was 100% a lie, and at BEST, it was a highly misconstrued alliteration of what I actually said. But you see... She didn't care. She wanted an out, and this was the perfect opportunity for that. I was highly depressed at the time, and hooked on drugs due to the severe amount of antagonism that her mother had been relentlessly aiming my way, and if my ex attempted to break up with me LIKE THAT... Well, there would be no way that she could paint that as me being the bad guy, and thus her actions justified, clearing her of any guilty conscience. And what's more, all of our friends would be on HER side, because how dare I. >Depressed and jobless? Sure okay, as long as he's a good, nice guy.
