How can I bring my soul closer to the God of the Gospels? I want to entrust myself to Jesus Christ, but I don't know much about Christianity. Where should I begin?
>>41755419Read the Gospels, pray daily at your private room (even something simple as 1 Our Father per day) and engage in liturgy in a church (you don't need to <<engage>> you can start by sitting in a corner and observe)
>>41755419The problem with the God of Judeo-Christianity is that how are you supposed to love God with all your heart, mind and soul whilst also being shitscared of him? It's basically like how Stalin was, saying he loves you and that you should love him whilst you're completely terrified of him. I never understood how that was supposed to work
>>41755474>how are you supposed tosounds more like the problem with man than the problem with God desu

>>41755419Read Scripture and pray. But you should also find a local church to attend. Jesus wants his salvation delivered by hearing his word preached.
>>41755419continue seeking in whichever avenue feels most correctbeware false teachershow to spot them? you need intuition based on the word of God, The Bibleaccept that it is the absolute truth, some literal, some metaphorical, maybe both, but you must accept that both it and Jesus Christ is and are the truthto be able to discern out in the world you need this basisthus you becometh based (in God)it's all very heady and internal the external affects the internal of course and also viceversa but the real world is in your head (for real)think about the sun a lot too that helps, rise with the sunHope this is not a bait thread in that case Gods speed run away from ways of sinpeace out
frogot to add, i started here. some of it makes no sense out of context but it was logical for me to start with what Jesus saidhttps://www.eldoradoweather.com/current/jesus-quotes.php
King James Version (KJV) is my preferred version of The Bible but it can be difficult to read based on your understanding of the english usedhowever, the NIV (New International Version) often disappoints and/or delivers a slightly different meaning (from my perspective)now one could argue, anon, king james was some dude with his own agenda, i got u now! you must go read the original Greekand wellhere comes the most important lessonyou must believeconsume the Biblethen it must be livedsynthesize your anecdotal observations and lessons from reality with your knowledge from the Bible, whichever version is your truth (figuring that out is your journey not mine)knowledge wisdom understanding <- think about these words t
if you want to jump right in go read Proverbs in the Bible, this is what most people actually want when they get to the point of wanting God but no one actually tells you to go read it it's like a self-help but but 2000 years old and still valid so you know it's good and based and lindywhy the heck do people not tell others to read Proverbs? idk.
oh and lastly, lest i forget and you curse me later;this journey is not pain-free. sure, God is Love, Christ is Love, the goal is peace, butthe world will not love you for accepting Jesus Christ into your heartin fact, the goal is to ascend from the world, and the prince of the world doth not enjoyeth minions leaving his grasp. remember that he is a literal and active participant in his domain (the world), and will surely not leave you alone to be with Godmost people are of the world, and you are surely familiar with crabs in the bucketbasically this is (potentially) a painful journeyor you might be a lucky one and sidestep all thatword to the wise if you go down this path: absolute silence and not talking about it is the way to go (demons are attracted to anyone trying to rise above samsara and will literally attack you)you can see Christ as a figure that will exorcise demons from you, you think is is painfree? nahit's not easy dude but some people have no choice and i am some people
..now lastly, rest here weary traveler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9F1l6xXLSI0
