I feel like I accuired esoteric schizo knowledge after reading this but at the same time I feel like I understood nothing

not esoteric or schizo. it's very helpful to have a good understanding of freudian psychoanalysis first (actual understanding not just whatever pop culture says about it). then read lacan's four fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis (seminar XI), or just start with the seminars in order, most of them are translated into english now, although english may not be your first language if you spell acquired like that.

I think the main thing I really walked away with was the separation of the subject from the ego. We are not most of the things we think we are. We just pick a subset of the symbolic order and we decide to call it "ourselves". We thus fall for two fallacies at once: We are wrong in thinking that our position in the symbolic order is fixed and immutable. We are also wrong in thinking that the symbolic order itself is fixed and immutable.

I think I grasp the main idea but the full implications are not clear to me yet. I feel like if I ruminate on it enough it will become clear and very liberating. Then I'll be ready for Deleuze and Guattari. I still don't get the weird algebraic stuff.
